All the new ones SHOULD have a gen 3 OLED panel which has the better sub pixel layout. The res just depends on what they release.
Personally I wouldn't upgrade unless I get something better than 3440x1440, I don't really care for an upgrade of Hz from 165 to 240hz. Especially when it's gonna be double the price of this

Sorry newbie in monitor area, but how come this is cheaper than AW3225QF?
At minimum - the latter has a higher resolution.
Because it's a previous gen monitor (2022), WQHD (not 4K), 165Hz refresh rate. Back then all the OLED gaming monitors were 21:9 ultrawide, even though there was a lot of demand for more standard 16:9.
Now that everyone is buying the new 16:9 monitors, these older ultrawides are being discounted.

There were 16:9 OLEDs (LG's 1440p WOLED panels), but all QD-OLEDs were 21:9

This one is Ultra Wide 34" 21:9 and AW3225QF is 32" 16:9
This AW3423DWF is a 34" WQHD 3440 x 1440 monitor (ultrawide 1440p in 34").
The AW3225QF is a 32" 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 monitor (standard 4K in 32")
The demands on your video card are different: driving either 1440p but wider, or 4K. It takes more GPU power to drive 4K.
Both are high-end Alienware monitors for serious gamers and you can do a lot better pricewise if you don't need high-end gaming features.
IMHO at the moment ultrawide 1440p is the price/performance sweet spot in monitors, because it's an immersive experience requiring slightly less video card expense and there are lots of good 34" ultrawide 144hz+ deals due to newer models coming out.

You "can", but you don't generally want to use OLED to main work stuff if you're doing static spreadsheet/Outlook all day, that's potentially asking to accelerate burn in.
I'm not sure if this model covers burn in, I know the 32" 4K new QD-OLED does.
@guichenmin: What I do is have all my static spreadsheet/outlook screens on to other monitors, and using the OLED for things that I will work on and close and not leave it static for hours and hours, switching them up once in a while.
I don't know Macs, so I didn't answer until now, but I know you wouldn't want to run games in 4K on that combination, not that Macs are gaming central anyway. But I guess productivity uses should be fine. As others have said, OLED is not what you want for those uses - OLED is what gamers currently want.
I'm working and writing just now on a 144hz 34" 1440p ultrawide (VA panel). Cost me $458 in March 2021.
I think an ultra wide 1440p might not look the best on a Mac.
perhaps your use go an IPS. Like some of the popular 4K Dells. But really Macs love 5k.

Do most games support ultrawide or are you going to get weird behaviours sometimes? What about hooking up a console to ultrawide? I lean toward 16:9 because I feel like stuff is just going to play more nicely as it's designed for it.
In my experience, most games do 3440 x 1440 (ultrawide 1440p) just fine. It's a very common resolution nowadays. There's not that much more performance overhead compared with running standard 1440p. I really enjoy it and won't go back.
I understand that one notable except is Elden Ring (displays in standard 1440p on an ultrawide) because its developers believe ultrawide gives you an unfair advantage. So there's a good reason for going ultrawide :) You can mod Elden Ring to play in ultrawide but you can't play online then.
Hooking up a console to ultrawide is case-by-case. I know there's a Gigabyte ultrawide that definitely doesn't work with PS4/PS5, but most others do. Check reviews before you buy.
Pretty sure around 6 months ago, I was able to bring the price to $11xx with the affiliate code, so not sure if this is all time low, but looks like $11xx is as low as it gets.
AMD FreeSync version is cheaper than NVIDIA G-SYNC version by $400.

Yeah, you can't update the firmware on the G-Sync version, and it has a fan noise problem. Ignore that crap.
I only found out this week but the G-sync model can now be updated via DP cable. It had been out since December with not much fanfare, but worked well for me.

The only difference between the two and very noticeable before I disposed this version is the HDR Brightness. Otherwise yes, just the Sync diff native vs Gs.
I have a RTX 2070 Super, is there any difference between FreeSync and G-Sync? I would have assumed the G-Sync would work better with Nvidia Graphic Cards.

I'm trying to figure out if the Triangular RGB this has is actually an issue or not. Its hard without seeing it first.
I've had mine for about 12 months now, 50/50 work (office docs, teams) and gaming. At a normal viewing distance (arms length from the screen) I can't see any noticeable text fringing. If you put your face right up to it you may see it. My dad when he visits plugs in and codes on it, never mentioned noticing the fringing stuff
The upside of how good everything else looks its worth it imo.

I use my monitor ~70/30 desktop/gaming and have virtually no problems with text aberration that many people talk about. Coming from an AW3418DW, the difference in picture quality is night and day, and most importantly this monitor doesn't strain my eyes anywhere near as much, even with HDR set to 35.
Just as a contrast to the others here I find the 34 to be pretty average for productivity (I’ve got a 43 and 34 ips for that now)
I personally wouldn’t use the 34 oled for work, but I’m pretty sensitive to these things
For the record I’ve just ordered the 32 and I’m on the fence if that was a wise move or not. I love UW

I nearly returned it coming from a 38 IPS, but the oled is much better in gaming
Coupon also drops the AW3225QF to $1,412.77 which is only $1.01 higher than ATL.
Frustrating that these continue to drop in price so quickly, glad I was at least able to get reimbursed when the AW3225QF dropped to $1519 a couple weeks ago (I paid $1756 with student code), but my mate bought the AW3423DWF just over a month ago ($1300 with student code) so can't claim the reimbursement via price guarantee (Or use this coupon code which would've saved him $130 more).
Oh well. Buy the product for a good price, and don't look at prices after the fact!

You'll have to settle for reimbursement on the the current reduced price without coupons, I doubt they'll reimburse you for the reduced price + your original student coupon.
@TheBargainDog: On the blower with Dell now and when I mentioned that I'd like the RRP list price difference as well as the Student discount (or I would return it and buy it new again) they combined both and offered me a refund of $128. Happy with that!
Note to others: the 30 day window starts when you received the product/Dell invoiced you, and not when your purchased it. That adds on a few days and in this case saved my bacon as my purchase date was 32 days, but from when I received it 28 days.

If you're within 30 days since the invoice was sent to you, you can definitely be reimbursed for the now discounted price with code.

I already have two Dell G3223Ds (the QHD version) and they serve me well.
Better value for money is not to spend it since you already have 2 monitors serving you well
I wouldn’t really consider it on value; one would be a great improvement in clarity/(pixel density) and experience, the other would be an incredible improvement in colour and contrast and experience.
If you’re planning on playing (immersive) games or watching movies on it, I’d go for this one. both are at good prices for their technologies/RRPs

he's being a little hyperbolic, but it was not the best choice at that budget. The panel in this monitor has not great not terrible black smearing, relative to other monitors in the same budget (AOC)
@xrailgun: probably, but I really want deeper blacks and can't afford OLED, so VA panel for me. I'll have to live with some smearing, unfortunately. That's ok, life is full of compromises.
I have two S3422DWG monitors and they're pretty good, I brought them a few years ago for $550ish which was great at the time.
Yes if you put the screen into the fastest response time the smearing is quite significant but you get used to it.
Considering they have a handy usb hub as well, I think they're a go to at this price point.
I'm wating for OLED to get a little better or the prices to drop more, considering my pc often likes to keep my current screens awake because of my various peripherals its not worth the burn in risk. They are gaining more of reputation.

For the price, it's a decent option. A mate of mine has owned a S3422DWG for over a year and is more than happy with it.
I'm on my 5th day with the S3422DWG, and I'm loving it. When I first got it out of the box, I almost wanted to pack it back up and return it. The colors were dull, and there was some terrible flicker once I enabled G-Sync. So, I started doing some calibration. I'll list it here in case someone already has it or is thinking of buying it:
First things first:
1. Update the firmware by checking it on the Dell website or using Dell Display Manager.
2. Download and install the display drivers.
On the monitor:
1. Set Preset Modes to Custom Color. Now set Gain to 100-100-91 and Offset to 53-50-53.
2. Set Response Time to Super Fast.
3. Make sure AMD FreeSync Premium Pro is set to On.
4. Set Smart HDR to DisplayHDR 400.
5. Download the ICC profile from Rtings and apply it in Display Settings (turn off HDR in Windows first and then re-enable it once applied).
In Windows:
1. Go to Settings -> System -> Display and enable "Use HDR".
2. Then go into HDR settings and make sure Auto HDR is off.
3. Set SDR content brightness to 30 (or whatever you prefer up to 50).
4. Download the Windows 11 HDR calibration app from the Windows Store and follow the instructions. Be careful while doing the HDR calibration because you need to set the value of black and white when you cannot see the difference anymore, not simply selecting the maximum or minimum value.
5. Obviously, don't forget to set your Refresh Rate in Settings -> System -> Display -> Advanced Display to 144Hz.
For Nvidia cards (sorry, I have no idea about AMD cards as I have an RTX 3070):
1. Make sure you have the latest drivers.
2. Open Nvidia Control Panel & go to "Set up G-SYNC", make sure it's enabled, and also in Display Specific settings, make sure you check "Enable settings for the selected display model".
Now comes the funny part. I initially used a standard DisplayPort cable and experienced flicker on low FPS (40-50), in game menus, or when alt-tabbing to a different app while the game was running. It turns out the cable wasn't good at all. So, I ordered the "UGREEN 16K DisplayPort 2.1 VESA Certified Cable 2M, DisplayPort to DisplayPort Male to Male Cable Nylon Braided DP to DP 16K@60Hz 8K@240Hz Support HDR" from Amazon for $30. And BAM, the flicker disappeared—no more noticeable flicker on low FPS or game menus.
I've had a AW3423DW (not the F model) since launch. Mine is the G-Sync model, while this one is the Freesync model.
It's been utterly incredible to both game and work on (WFH full time), however there's a few gotchas that people should be aware of.
Poor anti-glare coating QC
I've had to have my monitor replaced twice due to bubbles forming under the anti-glare coating on the screen. I presume this is due to moisture getting trapped under there when they apply it, then after use that moisture heats up and creates a bubble.
Flakey power supply/firmware
About once in every 15 times my monitor goes to sleep/goes to standby, it doesn't properly sleep and instead "freezes". The only way to get out of this unfrozen is by unplugging and plugging the monitor back in after the capacitors have discharged. This has happened on two of the monitors that I've had (due to aforementioned bubble issue). The monitor is on a high-end filtered powerboard in a < 10 year old house so it's not likely to be a dirty power issue.
Image retention/burn-in
The monitor has a few tools to prevent this from happening, however after only 2 years of fairly heavy usage (~8-12 hours a day) I'm starting to see some burn-in banding on the monitor, especially on grey-ish backgrounds. I've done everything I can do to prevent burn in wherever possible (dark mode/dark theme, varying window positions, auto-hide taskbar, etc) - but it still appears to be happening quicker than I'd like/expect for the original RRP of this device.
Aside from the above, I have no regrets. And at the advertised price, it's almost a no-brainer. Just make sure you grab PowerToys if you use Windows so that you can set up FancyZones to make everything easier :)
Is it fair to say Agon Pro AG344UXM is a better deal right now or an I missing something?
1152 dimming zones is nowhere near enough for a 34" panel, the blooming looks awful. People whinged like crazy about miniLED blooming on 12.9" iPads which had 2596 local dimming zones, now imagine less than 0.5x the dimming zones on a display panel 6x bigger.
You'd definitely regret saving $300 opting for the AG344UXM over an OLED ultrawide.
I ordered this monitor yesterday before the Price dropped, I talked with live chat and they opened a case for price match refund, but I'm still skeptical.
has anyone had any experience with Dell price matching or refunding the difference?
Otherwise I could order now and return the original order when received.
I have a lot of experience with this; the live chat window is the most useless thing.
They will just say they don't support it because you used a student discount.
But when you apply for other support on your order status page, they will refund the difference with super high efficiency.
