Can imagine the line ups outside Westpac out Fairfield and Parramatta way ready to get the $50 then immediately close account.

    OMG!
New migrant bashing, get an uber job, earn the least and be hit with a $5 fee after a year.
Be a slave for a $50 promise if you care to sign for agreeing to take it away from you again.

My dad is here on visitor visa, plans to be visiting frequently and looking for a bank account. If anyone has experience in using this offer in a visitor visa (or any other banks new account deals) pls share your thoughts. Thanks!

Let me create a promo for only people here for more than 12 months, or only people born here, and get my anus handed to me.

Another example of places using racism, but it being accepted…

Yey more migrants! "just" 1.6 million extra in the next 4 years and everyone's flocking to Sydney and Melbourne. I love my recycle bin, zoo land, 3rd world dumping ground, identityless experimental island 🥰

According to Britannica, an island is a mass of land that is both “entirely surrounded by water” and also “smaller than a continent.” By that definition, Australia can’t be an island because it’s already a continent.

So much hate towards migrants from such a small offering

I understand the idea of it being terrible that local Australians are excluded from an offer but if this was offered to most of us would we really think it a good offer?

Migrants won't be able to open an account online so there'd be a lot more faffing around and the fact that Australian citizens can open an account in seconds to minutes online would likely be one of many reasons why they don't offer it to everyone.

Not saying I'm in favour of excessive migration but that is not related to this 'deal'

    • Skeletor here is a migrant and doesn't like this approach.

so many things new migrants can't apply or are eligible for and nobody bats an eye, westpac offers a measly $50 to new migrants and everybody loses their minds.
