I've been in the market for an electric mower for months, and this price on this higher end model seems good price wise, notwithstanding year end sales are around the corner. The LM2135E-SP comes with a larger EGO 7.5Ah battery. Some other EGO mowers, trimmers and accessories are also selling at "clearance" prices on their website.

For relative comparison, at Sydney Tools and Total tools, the self propelled EGO base models (e.g. EGO LM1704E-SP Power+) RRP about $950, and they come with a smaller 5.0Ah battery.

    Really nice machine and a nice price to match.

    I recently moved to a battery mower and line trimmer (Greenworks 60V, 60ah) and I'm so happy. Should have done it sooner.
    Like many, I was worried about long grass and wet grass, but the 60V machine does well and I can raise the blades if I really have to, but have not needed to so far.
    Line trimmer has plenty of grunt at 60V and it's so good to just pull the trigger and go every time.

    No more oil and fuel mixes, smells, cleaning maintenance and pull starts.

        If you are asking about the Greenworks, I have the Greenworks 60V 21" SP model mower with 6Ah batteries and 320m² of thick Sir Walter buffalo grass. I can normally do the whole lot in about 50 minutes using a fair bit of SP, and a 6Ah battery is usually down to 1 LED or 1 LED flashing (it starts at 4 LEDs). Twice when the grass was particularly long (after 2 weeks of summer rain & heat in Brisbane) the first 6Ah ran out and needed to finish it with the second one. On both occasions there was more grass clippings than fitted in the standard 240L green bin.

        The Greenworks machine is a very solid full metal chassis with 7 height adjustments. I find that 3 is as low as I can go because even then the mower is dragging on the grass (because the buffalo is thick & dense, so the wheels sink in and the chassis drags), so I usually cut on setting 4. That is probably the only thing I don't like - on my old mower the blade was level / in-line with the bottom edge of the chassis, but with the Greenworks the blade is actually a bit higher than the chassis.

        I bought the Greenworks on a deal that had about $150 off plus a 60V blower and second 6Ah battery by redemption. I think I paid about $980 for the lot, so IMO a better deal than this. I might guess that EOFYS might bring some deals ?

          Trying to decide between greenworks 40v and 60v. Atm greenworks 60v comes with 1 battery only vs 2 with the 40v.

            @bashar20: Depends how big your lawn is. AFAIK the 40V batteries are 4Ah, which is MUCH smaller. The power capacity is - 60V x 6Ah = 360Wh, whereas a 40V x 4Ah = 160Wh, which is less than half the available power. So, even 2x 4Ah 40V batteries will not "do as much work" as 1x 6Ah 60V battery.

            If you only have 100m² of lawn, then the 40V might be OK ?

            I would suggest that unless you are desperate (and live in the far north), that mowing season is probably coming to an end, so wait for EOFYS deals and see what pops - there might be some redemption deals on a second 60V 6Ah battery (or better). There are often some early spring deals on mowers in September as well.

        I have about 1000 square meters of couch grass and mow the front and back on 2 different days, due to an injury I have. Rather than a ride on, I deliberately have the push mower for the added exercise for my injury.

        The 60V 6ah battery will last about 50 minutes and that's more than enough time for either yard. Less if I use self propelled, but I don't use that.
        This model can take a second battery, which I have (came with line trimmer), but I have not needed it.
        Lowest cut I think is 2cm. The mower has a 51cm cut with metal chassis. I cut on level 3 out the back and level 4 out the front and the grass is so nice to walk on.

        I have one part of the back yard that goes out to the forest and I use the lowest cut on that and the mower has no issues.

        One thing I love on the Greenworks, is that the height adjustment lever is incredibly smooth and easy to change. This is the 60V, 6ah, 51cm self propelled model.

        In a lot of cases, I see comments about battery mowers being no good, coming from people with lower power machines.
        I originally looked at 36V Ryobi, but after reading up, the 60V machines looked more suited for my needs and it's going great!

    Be aware Americans mow their lawns long. I have two ego mowers. Both are the same. The lowest setting works well. Next setting above good for long grass. After that they are designed for cow paddocks. The self propelled mowers are long. What this means if you have an uneven and bumpy yard is that it will look ok after you cut it but the next day or two later the uneveness will have you wanting to cut it again. Great mowers for people who just want to cut the grass and see mowing as a chore.

      I did notice the long cuts when looking into this last year. I read that for people with buffalo mowers don’t go low so owners don’t mess up the lawn/ pull it out?

        My husband just got the liberty 43, we previously had the most expensive ego one, he loves the liberty. Also we got a compatible battery from battery mate for $99.

        We have issues with all our ego batteries right after the warranty ended and they didn't want to deal with us. For the $4xx price point of the 7.5ah batteries, was a disappointment

          I bought full kits of Ego mower, trimmer, hedger, and blower way back from Masters years ago.

          As soon as the 3yr warranty ran out the batteries died and Ego wanted nothing to do with it!

          I was dealing with a twat named Harry Baker who was so blatantly arrogant and rude

          Never touching Ego products again

            @sirs2k: Yep, we got 3 batteries as we bought all the other stuff, multi stick, attachments etc. If we used them 1 at a time, the 2 that have failed would have been way before warranty ended. I was 2 months past the 3 years and once I told them the purchase date, he just said 'warranty is 3 years' and didn't respond anymore. And there's no other compatible batteries out there.

                @FreshPrinceofKP: To be fair, we are quite happy with the multi stick and blower. The edger kinda messed up, I still gotta try and see if we can do a warranty claim. But we bought into the whole system because of the lawnmower + battery so yeah definitely regretting that now.

                On the other hand my husbands Ryobi saw stopped working after 3-4 years, and Bunnings replaced it with a more expensive model with no issues or arguments. Definitely a good brand to stick to!

                These are his latest photos of the lawn with Liberty, he's really proud of the lawn now 😂😂 they still have that promo where you can get the mower + cartridge and you get a free scarifyer. Shipping to WA was $450ish though 😭😭

    Hmmm. These are a great toy, and great when you want long grass.

    But on the lowest cut height this keeps stalling on my lawn it’s very frustrating - need to go level 4-5 for it to be problem free but then the grass is mushy.

    I do not really rate. In less than 2 years I’ve had 2x 7.5ah batteries die - warranty is easy enough but still…

    Another 2.5ah battery hates being on my fast charger.

    Had part of the plastic chassis crack, had a replacement sent at my cost after much mucking around and put it in myself.

    The right wheel keeps jamming since day one, I’m tempted to rip out the self drive gearbox assembly.

    The whipper snipper and blower seem good, it’s just this thing that I have slowly lost patience with.

    Another quality of life thing, with my old Honda based Victa steel chassis, if it stalled due to a build up of wet grass, I’d just lift the front wheels up and pull the cord slowly a few times to clear it out. This you gotta flip it on its side and use your hands or something to clear it out.
    The handles don’t go low enough to get under the trampoline either, unlike the old one.

        Yeah I guess individual results may vary lol and my review was based on just under two years of ownership and it wasn’t sponsored by Ego or one of their biggest retailers so there’s that….

        For the first year I didn’t mind it, it was OK. Until it came time to scalp the lawn…

        I do appreciate that it’s lighter, can fold up and stand upright/hang on the wall, and I don’t need to go get fuel anymore. It has its ups and downs I suppose.

      i actually +1 on the regret, loved it in our last place with had nice fine lawn, but our current place the lawn is thicker and our ego (can't remember model but largest plastic deck no push motor on wheel) isn't up to the task. It stalls and eats batteries. I can barely finish one yard with the 5ah no way am i getting the up to 6.5 minutes per ah, very much in the 'up to which includes a lot less' category.

      Love the portable tools we have the line trimer with power load, the high output blower, path edger, and hedge trimmer which are all amazing. But the mower less than impressed with.

      I can empty it well enough but lifting front wheels and bumping it up down easy enough with it clogs i don't have that issue. I need to find a reliabile third party battery option so i can get a couple of 10ah with out costing a kidney.

    In regards to deals, I just wanted to mention that there are nice redemption deals on at the moment with some of the brands and I got a line trimmer, 60V battery and charger with my Greenworks 60V mower. That deal with other deals they have, runs to July I think. Others like Ego have similar I think…

    I recommend looking at the current redemption deals, rather that waiting a bit.

    My redemption took an extra 2 weeks to mail out as they are getting hammered with orders.

    I've had this exact mower for more than a year now, it was the last thing I had to replace to be able to throw my oil and petrol canisters out. I don't miss them at all. I mow maybe 300-350m of mostly Sir Walter, mowing it a bit taller than couch or whatever is fine, you are not supposed to shave SW. It does a decent job… just shy of say a decent Honda but good enough for me. The 7.5A probably lasts about 2 mows if I am not using self-propelled which I only do if I'm feeling gassed. Fair bit quieter than petrol, if that matters to you (although I admit I was surprised that the blades still make a fair bit of a hum). Here's hoping I don't get the battery issues others have had.

    When you can buy a cheapo ICE mower for <$250 @Miter10 its hard to go electric at $1k+ plus running costs and repairs. Mines run 2 years with no service needed, just sharpened the blades this week, checked the oil (all good) and just topped up the fuel and off again.

    Ive bought bigger, better and more expensive; as well as watched the electric mower craze gather pace but cant beat a cheap ICE mower!

      used it a couple of times so far.
      the cord is only a little bit annoying.

      for the price range of this deal's mower, I'd be looking at mower robots instead.

    Ive got this lawn mower and other ego equipment, after about 6months i started having loads of issues with lack of power, self-propelled gears grinding and getting stuck on and the front wheel bearing,its needed a full wiring harness and doesn't even catch 70% of the clippings it will sprays it out the side and all over the mower the battery life isn't good,plus ive had afew dead ones, i also have a whipper-snapper with powerload the first time i used it it literally started smoking almost burnt out the motor ,the warranty claims and services are not good at all ,ive had my ego equipment for 4 years this year now, if i could go back in time i definitely wouldn't buy into ego, they aren't as good as they make out to be

      I also bought heavily into the whole Ego system 4 years ago because at the time it was all over Ozbargain how good they were. But with all the battery issues and other stuff now a few years later, I can't recommend them anymore and kinda regret getting into the Ego ecosystem

    Total Tools sells it for $1180 including a free blower worth $300 on Easter, plus you get $200 store credit. If you pay by gift card then your actual cost will be $1050 inc a 52cm mower, 1 blower, 1 7.5Ah Battery and $200 store credit. So I don't think this is a good deal.

    This thread has been a very interesting read. I got here via an alert I have set up for Ego, but I'm starting to maybe think my money would be better spent elsewhere. Greenworks was the other brand I've had an eye on - are they fairly comparable?

      I can't speak to longevity, but did my first cut yesterday with the mower and the Ego trimmer and I'm very happy. Suction on the mower was good; I lowered the mower but not too low otherwise I found it cut the grass too aggressively. For every negative opinion on Ego, there seem to be favourable views on the opposite to. YMMV.

      I found the ego trimmer more impressive than the mower even (the 1500+ series doesn't require you to thread the trimmer string, which is v nice). And it's so nice not to smell any gas fumes anymore.
