Edifier MR4 Studio Monitor White $109 Delivered (VIC/SYD/ADL C&C) + Surcharge @ Centre Com

130

Matches the price of the previous deal but only for the white variant.

Have a pair of these myself which I use as desktop speakers. I find them excellent for my preferences, bass lovers may want to consider investing in a sub.

    thats a good buy

Agree with OP, got one as well. At this price, it’s very decent. Only annoying thing is that the volume knob is ‘stepped’.

In regards to op saying to invest in a sub, these speakers have no sub out so you cant improve the bass that way. I've used edifier speakers in the past and really like them

Its definitely possible to hook up a sub to these but it requires some extra work, such as plugging in the sub between the source and the speakers or splitting the RCA

I just went through how to do it and added some links to examples of cables, but it got blocked as referral spam, lol

So I will start again without the links.

I have a setup where I use a 3.5mm male to 3.5mm female splitter cable from the headphone out. Then I use two 3.5mm to RCA cables. One to the amplifier (or in this case to the RCA in on the speakers) and one to the sub. You just have to play with the sub crossover and levels.

    • Some subwoofers have RCA input and output. Source goes in and the speakers plug into the output.

While I'd love to believe that a 4" could sound "good", they cannot. They never have any bass, even if no other problems come up. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/e…

With audio, there is no free lunch - buy cheap, buy 2-15x until you learn to buy the right equipment.

Sure, a 6" kit cost 2-3x this and needs more than a tiny desk-space, but you'd done for a lifetime. Which choice is a bargain?

      So what would recommend instead?

      • I'd love to help, but I haven't been following the market for 6" speakers - like I said, I bought mines many-many moons ago, and not buying another pair in the foreseeable future.
The link above I used is a great source for gear reviews, if you are interested.
If I had to start again, I would start with reading about 6" studio monitors (or, if I had the space, 7" or even 8"). I read great reviews on KRK, but they are not in the bargain bin.

  • Do these have any base at all?

    • +5

      • i dont like you reply :P““ i see i mixed up my bass with base
