For anyone considering paying more for the LTE version, worth knowing that the only Australian carrier that supports "number share" between your phone SIM and Pixel Watch LTE is Telstra on a post-paid plan (to my knowledge), which is significantly more expensive than some of the prepaid plan deals posted on here.
Moreover, even if other telcos start supporting the Pixel Watch on LTE I've noticed they seem to have it on postpaid plans not prepaid plans, so you could very likely end up paying more for LTE and never using it.
Last note is check FB marketplace for people selling these for quite cheap - I personally got a Pixel Watch 2 LTE for under $200 in very good condition from someone who got it with their Pixel phone and didn't want it. Even if you get one with minor cosmetic wear, you can hide it with a rugged case and screen protector so that it's barely noticable, and factory resetting the watch often resets the battery life near new (as they only were manufactured like 6 months ago, most 2nd hand battery should still be in good condition).

Work mate uses telstra prepaid on his pixel 2 lte watch . I use Vodafone prepaid on my samsung watch 5 pro.
So yeah it works. I'm waiting for similar hack for apple watch

I thought $300 is a decent price and most people sell the new one for $350-$400 minimum when I asked (like 5 people) a few months ago.

Yeah lucked out but saw a few for around $240-260. The one I purchased was listed for around $230 and negotiated down below $200, probably a 1 in 100 deal :)
i wonder how it was like having a watch with 1 day battery life.. I got my TicWatch 5 Pro just so I don't need to charge it every other day
It's awful, I'm waiting for a good deal on the Fitbit Sense 2 and will be switching to that.
I've noticed with the latest update I'll be lucky to get 1 day out of it whereas before the update with absolutely everything turned off I'd be able to stretch it to 2 days. I've worked out that the biggest battery usage comes from the HR sensor which, unlike on a Fitbit, you cannot disable it to change it's usage frequency to reduce battery consumption, so there's no way to improve it - why Google locked this one away is a mystery.Also when fresh out the shower the damn thing ticks like an analogue watch (water on the speaker) which is mighty frustrating when trying to sleep!
dont shower with a smartwatch, or any watch. steam can and will get in
I've showered every day with my Apple watch for two and a bit years now with no sign of issue. I agree in principle it's a risky practice though
I've been wearing smart watches going back over 10 years, always showered with them, never had an issue.
@belongsinforums: I've also showered with smartwatches since starting with them way back - the only one I've had fail was a fitbit charge (the first one with the tiny screen) - it delaminated and then fell to bits. The rest have (so far) held up ok but I do agree, it can be a risk as electronics and water don't tend to mix well
Honestly I don't find it to be a problem. I came from a Xiaomi band that would do nearly a week between charges.
The PW2 charges so quickly that I can chuck it on the charger while I shower and get ready for bed and that's usually all I need for another 24 hrs.
Also, I've found myself getting 36 hours pretty easily if required. And if you do get caught out then 10 minutes of charge is enough to see you through a work day.
In conclusion I think the battery life / charging situation is vastly improved over PW1

I came from the Fitbit versa 2 which had 5 days between charges and I was really worried about daily charging.
I now charge it every day when I shower and when I'm sitting on my computer desk (e.g. now), and I haven't found it to be that big of a deal breaker.The main thing I was looking for was an accurate HR monitor, GPS so I don't have to bring my phone out on runs and on the Android ecosystem.
PW2 is the best for my use case.

Got a TicWatch E3 to try, especially NFC. It is decent for the price and features!

e3 doesn't have nearly as good of a battery life than Pro3, Pro3 ultra, or pro 5.

Nokia lasted weeks back then but people still chose iphones
ticwatch pro 5 have similar performance to pixel watch 2, same OS albeit slower update (but it's a watch, frequent update really isn't that crucial), but more than triple of battery life, and can last month even in ultra low power mode.
this isn't Nokia vs iPhone sort of comparison.
Oled screen, double the battery capacity, and non LTE probably are the 3 main reasons it lasts longer. Ticwatch pro 5 is close to the Galaxy watch pro 5 variant as they both last around ~60 hrs. The non pro version Galaxy watch doesn't last long either. Pixel watch is more for cleaner design and better fitness functions by Fitbit. If I'm gonna use the Google assistant a lot, I'd expect even less.
