Best Strategy for My Situation - $85 Allowance for a New Phone Contract with Goal to Acquire New Handset in 12 Months

Hi,

I currently use Aldi's $19 Mobile Plan with my own handset. However, I'm in need of a phone upgrade and my company now offers an $85 monthly reimbursement for phone bills, which I'd like to take advantage of.

The challenge is finding a 12-month plan close to the $85 reimbursement. I'm confident I'll be with the company for at least this time. Options for a recent phone like the Apple iPhone 11 64GB exceed this budget, costing $118.58/month for a 12-month plan. Is there a way to maximize this allowance while sticking with Aldi mobile, or any other suggestions on how to make the most of what my company offers? Is there such a thing as a device only plan?

Thank you

Whilst i understand it is not your money , but that plan is terrible.

    Look at what telstra/optus/etc offer

  • Thank you altomic. This is true, my issue is that any plan which includes a handset is much higher than $85 a month. If there was a way of having a 'device only' plan and me maintaining my Aldi SIM-only plan, then this would be ideal.

Telstra. Their plans aren't cheap, but they do offer 36 month terms so you might get it to just over 85 a month. You can cancel early whenever you want and just pay the handset cost, I think interest free as well.

Those JB deals with a $69 plan and $400 voucher would probably get you something close to half price..

Get the highest plan they are offering and accept you might not be able to use every dollar of the allowance.

  • Thank you everyone for the advice

Optus iPhone 12 (currently backordered) 12-month device payment plan $83..22 per month

    • Thank you. I still need to take out a plan on top of this.

I figured that but you'll still end up owning a handset for less outlay than if you had purchased outright without your employer subsidy. iPhone 12 is the earliest model to support 5G.
