Forced to Retire My 16:9 Mobile Due to End of 3G

I want to say that I LOVE my mobile. It's been outstanding since 2017. Great screen, great battery life, no ads or other BS— just very easy UX. Xiaomi Mi Max 2.

It is unstoppable & I LOVE IT in all regards EXCEPT, it doesn't have 4g 700mhz band 28.

I cannot understand why all phones went to the stupid skinny ratio, but I need a new phone. I don't want a flagship. My prefs are:

Good battery life
mSD
3.5 jack
stereo speakers if available

What's my best bet?

Have you tried using GSM arena [Phone Finder] to find what you're after?

    https://www.gsmarena.com/search.php3?

You can set filter for things like year of release, budget, microSD card, screen size, dual speakers / 3.5mm jack, battery capacity / charging speeds etc.

    e.g
All phones from year 2022 onwards with at least 4GB RAM, 3.5mm headphone jack, SD Card (any Type) and Stereo spkrs

    https://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3?nYearMin=2022&nRamMin=…

The newest phone appears to be the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13. JB HiFi is back to selling Xiaomi phones now so you can buy locally too.

        Buongiorno…

    • You've now had time to research.
      What are your findings?

  • And yes, I have gone there. Was hoping others found a workaround for the 16:9 issue.

Why TF did phone makers end this entirely? So many have approached them for another 16:9.

    Just make ONE, even?

    • Yeah the best I could find was a Samsung A73 5G when I retired my Max3.

It's not quite as big but close enough for the money.

      Feels lightning fast in comparison.

  • I don't specifically care about 16:9 or MicroSD or headphone jack so I haven't complained as loudly about this but I do wish modern flagships were bigger/wider. It sucks that Apple's iPhone Pro Max's, Samsung's Galaxy S# Ultras, and Google's Pixel Pros have all pretty much gone in the same direction.

Vodafone isn’t fully reliant on 4G 700Mhz for their network.

Have you tried it? Seems it supports 4G but not band 28, most/all carriers use a set of 3 bands typically for 4G.. Are you sure it's 100% incompatible?
