It's been 9 months since release and we've barely seen a budge on the ridiculously expensive price. I really, really want one though. Why are we not seeing a discount to something like $250? Even that's extremely expensive but I think I'd be willing to give in at that price.

Look out for eBay coupons. That’d be your best bet. Then when you find one, share it here.
Keep an eye out for TCN 15% GC that you can use at JB or GG also use JB perks voucher if you get them
Honestly if you want to go brand new, your best bet currently would be taking advantage of the 15% off Ultimate Gift Cards. Brings the price down to around $288 through purchasing at JB.
Ended up getting it for $255. Managed to negotiate it down to $300 on JB HI FI online chat. Then used the 15% off ultimate gift cards. Still very expensive but I really wanted one
There's no specific need to discount accessories. They go for $200-250 used on marketplaces. Make sure to test them out fully if you opt to go that route although replaceable sticks makes it less of an issue.
