  • Can someone please advise? I've currently got a Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card. Can I still apply for the Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer Card ? I couldn't see anything int the Ts & Cs

    • +1

You may not be eligible for 80k bonus offer

  • Hi everyone
Closed the velocity flyer card June this year. Thinking of reapplying but wasn't sure if will be eligible for bonus points+30k. Anyone in the same boat?

    • Should be okay. Raised a few times in this thread. I'm going to give it a go.

    • Closed mine in July, got this one in Nov and received points ( not sure about bonus 30K yet)

      • @Ehty did you manage to get the bonus 30k as well for new card?

  • can i apply these cards as business credit card?
anyway, is there a reason not to use credit card which was applied under individual/personal name for business expenses?

  • Is there anyway to pay the credit card before the first statement is generated? Im approaching my limit and wanted to dump some money into it

    • +1

if you have a virgin money transaction/saver accoutn.. you can link the accounts from app and pay to your credit card account

      • Tried this, the app doesn't let you select the credit card to transfer money to 😢

    • +4

BPAY Biller Code is 49551. Account/Reference number is your 16 digit card number. Test this with a $0.01 payment to make sure.

  • Been trying to apply for the Flyer card on this deal

Get to entering my employer name, click next and get this error:

    "Oops - something went wrong"
"Uh-oh. It looks like we've had an error. Please follow one of the actions below to continue."

CS doesn't know why, told me to use a different browser. I went so far as to use a different computer on a different internet connection and still get the same error.

I can sign up with them over the phone but wont be eligible for the 30k top-up bonus.

Any one else had this? any tips?

  • Hi guys, anyone know when the statements are issued for the virgin money card?

Is it one month after approval or at another set time each month?

Just wondering if you have a full 30 days from approval to make the first months spend… thanks

    • +2

Was told a month from approval when I called them up on the weekend to confirm timeframes.

      • I was conditionally approved on 6th of November but they had issue with my identity verification so they sent me Auspost verification. I called them today, it will be two more weeks till i get the card, am I stuffed?

        • Just need to successfully apply by the 17th Dec 2023.

  • +3

First month's $1500 spend has been met and exceeded.

Currently teeing up the spend for the second month with car and aircon servicing.

Also bought the Mrs her Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 for xmas using this deal and Paypal's Pay in 4:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/816456

So there will be ~$850 that will be charged to the card during the second month.

  • Got approved within 15 minutes of applying. Fastest approval.

  • I was conditionally approved for the Velocity Flyer but then heard nothing for nearly two week. I then received a letter to say I was approved but they couldn't verify my ID online and I have to fill out a form and bring my ID to Auspost. Bit of a hassle but all worked out in the end.

  • Anyone know if Vicroads bills count towards the minimum spend? Its kind of stupid that the T&C are so broad. Vicroads rego payments are now privatised but does it still count as semi-government…

  • Is it a requirement to meet the minimum spend by dec 17th? Or that’s just for the CC application?

  • +2

Wow Virgin Money must be desperate to get new customers.. I applied this morning.. didn't submit the payslips and then got a call 4h later offering the bonus 5k points for sending through my proof of income.

    • They've been handing out points like crazy! The deal was better a few months ago

Signed up in April from memory and the deal then was 25k points x 4 months ($1500 spend/month)
Plus we got the additional 30k points back then as well, easy 260k points between myself and my partner with a relatively small monthly spend

    • I had the same experience and was also paid our the 5k bonus points after my first statement - I didn't even need to follow up for once.

    • Got a call 4 hours later as well, but no mention of 5k bonus points.

    • +1

Desperation seems to have calmed down, after applying yesterday I only got an sms requesting to submit additional documents

Hi x, we need some additional documents to complete your Virgin Money Credit Card Application Ref #.. . When you're ready to add these documents to your application, click here -link-. For help, give us a call on 1300 335 213.

      • Update: just got a call, needed to confirm some details at the end of the call I was now also offered 5k additional bonus points to submit payslips within the next 24 hours.
Note that my citibank personal loan "would cause issues with the application" (it would be seen as an expense although no money was withdrawn) - so the person suggested to remove it from my application.

        • How long between sms and agent called you to give 5k pts?

And once you provide payslip, how long did it take to get approved?

          • @OzFrugie: I got that sms in the morning +-10am.
Got a call in the afternoon right before my post (+-2pm).
I was working so didn't have time to upload payslip yet. Got declined a little bit more than 1 hour after the phone call.
Not sure why I was declined. I have had way more credit before and also closed a CC roughly 3 months ago I think.
The agent was going over my expenses wanting to remove the personal loan, and reduce expenses since somebody is living with me (and contributing).

  • How do we request for the fly voucher?

    • +3

      https://virginmoney.com.au/products/credit-card/gift-voucher

Have to wait until 30 days after approval, from memory was 5-10 business days to receive the credit

      • Thanks

      • Does the voucher expire?

        • +1

          Yes 12 months

      • Can the travel voucher be used by anyone other than the primary cardholder?

        • +1

Well it’s attached to your VFF number, you login to the travel bank with your VFF number and password. But you could book travel for anyone just has to be through your account.

You can’t transfer it to someone else like you could lounge passes for example

  • Just wondering if anyone tried and had any success with closing the virgin money flyer card and got a pro-rated annual fee refund?

    • Yeah, I recently cancelled the virgin money velocity card and they agreed to return the pro-rata annual fee.

      • @vino95 How did you go about this? Cancelled on the phone and verbally requested a refund? or via some chat interface?

        • +1

I verbally requested for the refund over the phone and also cancelled at the same time. They said the refund will come in the form of a check.

          • +1

@vino95: Thanks mate will give it a crack next month when I close it out and see how I go!

  • +4

Received my first statement at about 8am, and I immediately got the 30k Velocity Bonus and 30k Virgin Flyer card bonus (along with the earnt card points) into my Velocity account straight away! Very nice. Just applied for the Travel Bank credit now too.

The annual fee is showing on the first statement.

    • Still waiting for my statement… though, it's not 8am yet here in QLD (assuming it's all set up on a schedule).

Either way, I've put in for the travel credit. It's been 30 days.

      • Just got my statement just over an hour ago but I'm guessing points won't be in my account until Monday.

    • And just got the travel credit email too. Nice.

  • +1

Is there a 12 months cooling period for the virgin velocity flyer credit card, I cant seem to find it in the terms and conditions

    • no, read through comments above.

  • I closed my virgin card 8/23 and partner 11/23, we both got declined on new application

    • I’m in the same situation and was just about to apply till I saw your comment. Did you apply for other new credit cards in between? Otherwise it could be that virgin money would auto-decline applications with recently closed cards. Also out of curiosity did you ask for pro rated annual fee refund?

      • Yes we both applied for new cards in last 3 weeks and got approved for those, though they don’t show up on credit report yet you can see the enquiry made

No I didn’t ask for pro rata refund, I thought I got pretty good value out of them as it was.
We got 100k points + extra 30k points each card. 260k total + $258 travel bank credit I thought I’d let it slide 😂

  • I had the velocity creditcard 4 months ago.

Will I still get the points?

I cancelled the card 4 months ago.

    • have you read the thread?

  • Anyone know if you can apply for 2 cards and get the 30k bonus on both? Can't see anything in T&C's indicating it's a one time offer

  • Got statement on Saturday, got the points on the later half of today. Yay!

And I've done my spend for the second month too! Just waiting for 8 Jan now.

Will probably cancel the card by end of Jan and wait for another Velocity deal… hopefully around late May/June when I'll be getting ready to buy new stuff for the new house.

Think a 4-5 month gap between closure of my only credit card and application of my next one is sufficient to not get knocked back these days?

    • Not for me, closed August and denied this month

      • Cheers for the heads up. Might book those flights for the Mrs asap and cancel as soon as I get my remaining 30k points.

I can probably get away with applying early to mid July.

    • Did you get 30k velocity bonus also? Together with card bonus

  • Can I get the bonus if I've been a NAB customer? Had churned Suncorp a few months ago.

How long does it take for the card to arrive?

  • Is it too late to sign up for Virgin credit card now to get the bonus 3k pts?
How quick is the approval process to be eligible for the bonus pts?

    • +1

Not too late, offer expires Sunday.
Usually takes few hours, up to 2 days.

      • +2

Do you need to meet the spend criteria for the card before the 17th or just as long as you are successfully approved for the card before the 17th, you should get the bonus 30k points? (assuming you meet the spend criteria later on)

    • +1

      Applied 10.30am today, approved 3pm.

  • Put in travel credit application on the 8th, got it today.

  • Just applied, will see how long it takes to review the app

  • Anyone know if you need to be approved by 17/12, or just have to have applied by then?

    • I was going to apply, but I'm.curious about this too.

  • Anyone know if car rego considered as the spending limit? I paid my rego, doesn't count eligible for the virgin point but unsure if counted as the $1500 monthly spending.

    • +1

Most likely not, pay through zip pay

  • Just got approved in under a day

    • I want to apply, but it's Friday at 5:00 p.m. and even though it doesn't expire till Sunday, I'm not sure if they do approvals over the weekend.

I would imagine it's the day you apply because some applications get held up for weeks and that would be pretty unjust to miss out due to a long application.

      • I've always received the bonus points when applying before the deadline, and getting approved after.

        • Okay, I may go for it with the Virgin card.

90k pts for such a low fee sounds worth it.

      • +1

It says you just need to apply before the date , can be approved after

        • Awesome!

        • Only just got approved today after applying last week, the 12th, so I should be all g right?

      • Applied for my partner after this comment, and that application got approved around 6pm.

        • Did you have to provide pay slips? Nab approved me so fast, but other banks can be a pain!which card did you go for?

          • @[Deactivated]: I applied for "Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card Up to 60,000 bonus Velocity Points" for my partner.
Yes, payslips uploaded immediately during application.

  • Can you use the card straight away after getting approved or need to wait for the card to arrive?

    • +1

      Need to wait for card

      • thanks for the super fast reply :)

  • Received 30k points from 1st statement + 30k bonus points as well all credited realtime.

  • +1

Anyone had a delay in points credit? I got my statement on the 12th Dec and still have gotten my points….

    • +1

      same here…

    • Also waiting for points, have you received yours yet?

      • +1

Have you got your points yet?@Alvinz and when did u get your statement?

        • Received my statement on the 13th. Called virgin money today, they said they transferred the points and to check with Velocity. Called velocity they said they didn't receive anything. So i called up virgin again and asked them if they could follow up with velocity and will call me back in 3-5 business days. A bit of a nightmare!

          • +1

@Alvinz: Same timeline for me, they said point transfer failed and have raised enquiry

          • +1

            @Alvinz: Got 60K points today…

            • @Ehty: Yep me too! @akma1 good luck! Hopefully you get yours as well!
