  • Can someone confirm is rego payments count towards spend?

    • Most likely not.

Most every day purchases are eligible purchases. Certain transactions and other items are not eligible to earn ANZ Rewards Points. Examples of transactions and other items which will not earn ANZ Reward Points are interest charges, fees, cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers, Government Charges (includes but is not limited to payments for goods, services, charges and/or levies made to a local, state or federal government or statutory authorities or related agencies), transactions for gambling or gaming purposes and reversed or refunded transactions will not count towards your qualifying eligible purchases.

‘Government Charge(s)’ includes, but is not limited to, payment for goods, services, charges and/or levies made to a local, state, or federal government or statutory authorities or related agencies (and includes Australian and overseas governments).

pay rego with something like Zippay

      • Zippay does credit check if I'm not mistaken… What about prepaid cards, anyone done it?

        • +1

the credit check is prob worth it as I use it every time I get a new credit card to pay for things like this

also can generate a one time credit card number to buy things online.

          • @bohn: Hi do you just link your card into zippay and then use a virtual card to pay? Wondering if that's similar to wise/revolut as I have those already.

            • @umoddbro: no it's even better. you link a card and pay by the end of the month , or can pay a small amount to postpone paying till next month.

            • @umoddbro: what is more, the stupid disposable revolut cards block payments to subscription services now.. whereas zippay does not

              • @bohn: Nevermind apparently wise/revolut are treated as cash advance. Zip seems like the way to go I guess.

  • Anyone got approved for this card yet? Got a missed call from ANZ but no number to call back just a text saying to choose another time for return call tomorrow… Do they call up every application regardless of approval/rejection?

    • Only they needed to verify something with you - could be something with payslips, income etc. Most likely your application just need clarify before approve - wouldn't bother to call if they see it won't get approve.

      • Ok thanks will see how it goes then.

        • How did it go?

    • Yes i did, even though i applied for a Black. They called as mentioned to verify or need more info.

  • Instant rejection from ANZ black haha
They must have an algorithm to auto-reject anyone who already has an ANZ card

    • YMMV.

I applied for the Qantas card after closed the Rewards two months earlier and got approved within 24hrs.

      • I still have an active Rewards card, maybe that's why? I should close it off and try apply for Black again.

This deal now gives two options to choose from:
    100k ANZ points + $50 cashback
70k Velocity points but no cashback

    • I don't like that they've bundled rewards card with velocity, which means same cooldown for what is essentially different reward type.

    • +1

What's both in terms of $ amount?

    • Not that it matters to Ozbargainers but they've extended the time you have to hold the card to get the second tranche of bonus Velocity points from 12 to 15 months.

  • ANZ has the worst sign up process, I emailed them my payslips and now got another missed call. Why is there no number to call back? It's always just replying to a text for next day call back
