Salmon in Deli Section in Coles/ Woolworths Is Fresh or Thawed?

Hi Everyone.

When shopping for fish in Coles or Woolworths, I wonder if the fish or even seafood in Deli Section in Coles/ Woolworths are fresh or they have been frozen and then been thawed for display and sell to customers?

And is it better if we just buy frozen salmon?

Thanks in advance.

Deli salmon is Tasmanian and should be fresh not thawed. Frozen salmon in from Poland or Norway. Check the origin labels.

Just invest in a microscope and your days enjoying seafood are over!

    • nah just watch tik tok videos

your days of enjoying anything in life is over

    • I wish I didn't find out about canned tuna and other canned fish.

      • What's wrong with tinned tuna?

        • Nothing wrong with it, the canning process kills the worms and other parasites.

          • @Thrift: I guess if you saw the production process for anything you'd not want to eat anything other than fresh vegetables and fruit for the rest of your life.

Eg: the number of acceptable bugs in a tin of tomatoes.

I worked in Cole's deli before. Salmon is usually fresh ones. Just in rare case they use thawed frozen ones. The frozen ones looks contracted compared with fresh ones.

Have you never actually been to the Coles Deli? It is all labelled, fresh or "thawed for your convenience".

Says "fresh" right in the product name. This is like people asking prices when standing right next to the sign.

Salmon freezes well, by the way. When it is half-price, I stock up my freezer.

For barramundi, also farmed, you can choose fresh Australian, or frozen/thawed from Asia. All labelled.

        Brain freeze

    • Patently false.

  • I just type the four digit code on the back of the tag into the scale, don't ask me about the actual product.
