“Chamois”. A word I know how to spell, but I have no idea how it’s pronounced.

Me: Can I please grab a Sha-Moy, thanks.
    SCA: A what?
Me: Sigh, can I have something to dry my car, please.

I've always thought it to be Sham-Wah

        Correct.

        Not in this country.

      I say Shaa mi

Shammy, in US English. Shem-wah in the British pronunciation, which itself is more like how a Frenchman would say.

    • Cha-moise

i was tempted but then i read about synthetic chamois vs chamois leather

Thx for the cliffhanger. What did you read?

      • +2

If you have ever used leather, you never want synthetic.

Medieval BDSM chamois leather fan fiction.

I thought we all use microfibres towels these days. Check out Kmart $5 yellow dry towel or Bowden’s $20ish green suckers.

    • Agree. I reach for the green sucker always. Have used the shamee like once.

      • Me too. I still have one pack of shammy never opened…

  • Do people still even use these… Shammy btw

    • Yep for inside wiping, small area drying etc. Easier to clean and rinse than the BGS (which I have) for example. Synthetic chamois is about half as good as leather ime.

Yes, it's a "shammy" in this country.

  • Shows $25.25 to me?!

Leaf blower is the best way with a microfiber at the end to finish off any small drips.

Reduces long term swirls and scratches.
Higher CFM airflow is better than high speed. High speed is like blowing through a straw.

    • What blower are you using? My paint swirls if I look at it the wrong way - and I use high quality stuff and a drying aid.

All of the high CFM units I've looked into are pretty pricey, but I'm considering biting the bullet for peace of mind.
