  • Never heard of this brand before now. I guess gotta start somewhere.

    • They are a Swedish brand, been around for about 40 years.

      • Almost as old as Apple

  • I am going to connect these to Edifier S3000Pro such to fill in the gap, not expecting A LOT.Let's clear the lot ozbargainers lol

    • I've got a pair of powered monitors with XLR or TRS balanced inputs, can't figure out a way to hook any of these in. Any thoughts?

      • Use a DSP to split the bass. Like miniDSP. Or for example, I have Gustard x16 DAC, it outputs signal on xlr and RCA at the same time. People connect the sub on RCA and then figure out the crossover from subwoofer

  • So I can just connect it to my Yamaha sound bar ?

    • Yes if your soundbar has a sub out.

      • +1

        Great
Time for some bass in the living room
        Thanks

        • Did you end up buying it?

From the pic, the Audio input contains both L/R. While most Yamaha sound bars output 1 filtered mono Subwoofer out

          • +1

@FirstWizard: I don't know anything about audio to be fair
But it works perfectly for me

            • @H-Culture: Thanks. Mine just arrived. Plugged into my Yamaha YAS108. Sounds amazing!!

  • Not sure why the open box is more expensive than the brand new one, pricing error. But, 170$ for 175watts RMS is a killer deal.

  • Would this work well with the edifier R1850db's to give it that extra kick?

    • +2

Ahort answer? Yes. The Edifiers spec say's they go down to 60hz, but without any db limits given. This sub will get you down into to the 30's. So it will fill out the bottom end.

      • I've got the R1850DBs as well would you recommend these or the Audio Pro PS-125 Subwoofer 6.5" 125W. It'll be used for computer games/movies in the bedroom. Doesn't need to be anything spectacular.

        • +1

I would say this one is going to be the best value for money. More power, larger woofer, lower frequency.

Although not this brand I am using a Mordaunt Short 8 inch sub in my bedroom and it does the job perfectly for my needs which is mainly tv/movies.

  • I wonder if this sub would pair well with Elac Debut 2.0 b6.2.. primarily for music.. movies secondary.

    • Should do. Just have to get the sub crossover frequency and volume right.

  • With the right equipment, it can be pair with anything you got. Like a DSP or a decent DAC.

Anyone knows how these compare to our local Voll S8?

    • 100W vs 175W and no phase adjustment

      • Do those matter at all for typical indoors use?

        • I meant to say, more power is better. Phase switch, to keep it very simple, 0 or 180 depending on what sounds the loudest in your room. It's good to have, otherwise, you can switch it from your source, like avr or something.

    • I'm not sure what the quality of the amp is like, but 175W RMS is a fair bit of grunt for an 8" sub. It might be quite decent and really rumble! Seems like great value.

  • Hard to find reviews of these. I'm looking at that cherry wood dual-woofer sub. It seems it is from around 2010. I wonder when they stopped making them and whether these are fully sealed in the box or open-box.

    • +1

I have bought quite a bit of gear from them in the past and everything has been brand new, unopened. I just checked the description and it say's brand new, so I would expect it to be the same.

I guess if you were concerned about it you could always shoot them a message and ask.

      • Thanks. Yes indeed, I will do.

        • +1

No worries. Actually this sub intrigues me the most. It has a decent amount of power and the overall cone area surface of the 2 x 6.5 drivers is only a bit less than a single 10 inch driver.

These could be really good. If you do pull the pin and get one, I would be interested to hear your feedback.

  • It is so hard to just find decent sub for under 200$ let alone on discount. Everything I look starts from 500$ here, if I am following an US buying guide article.

    • This is a Swedish company, I hope it's decent for the price. Otherwise, it can easily sell to soundbar community lol

  • Has anyone received their Sub?

    • +1

Yeah just got mine today, setting up tomorrow.

      • Cool, thanks, looking forward to hearing how it goes! 😲👍

      • Cool, did you end up getting the PS-175? I am also interested in how it sounds.

      • The sub doesn't have an labelled LFE input. Did you simply connect it to either R or L?

        • Hi, sorry about the late reply, didn't see it come up in my notifications.

You just use a 2 to 1 RCA lead or a splitter etc.

So you use the Sub out on your receiver/amp etc, then into both L and R in on the sub.

          Neatest would be something like this;

          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/133337414843?hash=item1f0b877cbb…

          • @revheadgl: Thanks. I ended up just using the R input only, since the signal gets merged into one anyway. Some websites say that should be fine, and it appears to work perfectly well. Can you see any drawbacks to that?

Edit: apparently it affects the input level, which explains why the auto-on won't engage at low volume. So I'll need one :)

@Make it so: Answered your own question, lol.

That's what I was always led to believe and was told to hook them up.

I have have always used a splitter to both L & R inputs on subs that don't have a dedicated LFE input, and have been doing it for 30 odd years and am still running an old Mordaunt Short sub this way.

      • Are you impressed? Disappointed? Need the info 😉

        • +1

          It's awesome 😊
Much more powerful than expected. I was comparing with my other Jamo Sub300, but that one is 300 peak, whereas this one is 175 RMS. Heaps of power in a relatively small box.

Even the wife said it was beautiful (!!!).

          Price was insane.
