Listing comes with a 55% off coupon that you just select to get discount on the first adapter. As it only applied to one, you need to keep buying singles to get them all for $10.80. I have bought three so there does not seem to be a limit.

Careful of searching for the listing as Amazon had them listed with a slight different description for $25 without the discount option.

It is an easy way to add an Ethernet connection to you laptop or desktop. Also good for adding a second NIC to the micro desktops that keep getting listed. I have added them to optiplex micros with ESXi installed for home lab use as an example.

Only gotcha is they max out at 4000 MTU if big packets are important to you 😁

    If by "better", you mean "much worse", since that is 100Mbps and this is 1Gbps.

    Confirm these ones linked work well and are potentially more compatible as some other adaptors require USB 3.1 support.

      Yes, recently my workplace got new laptops and we were using the short adaptors but having issues with connecting to PLC units. This all in one cable is working fine but.

  This is weird. This adapter's descriptions show USB 3.1 with 1Gbps speed. But it also mentioned it's using AX88772 chip - that's a USB 2.0 10/100Mbps chip. Confusing.

  Current ASIX ethernet chipsets are AX88179A and AX88772C - the former is more modern with proper driverless support for 1Gbps speed and USB 3.x, while the latter is mainly designed for MCUs with USB 1.1/2.0 interface for slower 100Mbps speed.

    OK got mine and teared it down - it's AX88179. Not even the rev A chip. No wonder they're dumping this because it's old. It will work with Nintendo Switch, and Windows mostly driveless, but will need to install driver to work on macOS and some Linux as not all distro has ASIX driver built-in. My UGREEN AX88179 dongle doesn't work on Android TV, too FWIW.

    The AX88179A chipset supports CDC-NCM so it's driverless on macOS and Linux as well, but this one is NOT.

    Which Sony TV? mine got Ethernet, if it doesn't, I wouldn't think there be a interface to configure.

    It's AX88179 (not rev A) so you'll need to install the driver. 3rd party driver on Apple Silicon Macs requires you to go to Recovery mode and change the bootup configuration to "Reduced Security" first.

    Yes I'm using M2 MBA as well, was using AX88179 dongles but no longer. I swapped to a Realtek one for driverless. Not a fan of maintaining driver updates on Macs.
