Im after a saw for hiking. Is this on the lighter side of fold saws?
Are you sure you want a saw for hiking? Unless it’s for clearing fallen logs from official tracks for others, you’d be far quicker just walking around or using secateurs

Right so for camping rather than the hiking itself. Out of interest what state allows cutting up your own firewood on a hike? We don’t get that luxury in qld

Better than Silky saw?
Judging by the teeth I doubt it's better than the silky saw. But I used my katana silky saw and geez it surprised the hell outta me cut through a decent size tree like butter

No, I've had both. Silky is better but also more expensive.
I got my Silky for about $50 I think it was, use it a lot for gardening
I think the Laplander cuts on both pull and push stroke due to teeth angle. Silky is a pull-saw so cuts only only the pull stroke. There are benefits to both but Silky is efficient and clears the cuttings nicely as you work.
There are a bunch of YouTube videos comparing and critiquing both types.
