Any nbn Deal for FTTP?

My tangerine promo is coming to an end, and their price is increasing come 1st Dec.

Don't do a lot of streaming these days at home, so looking to save as much as possible. Any suggestions please?

FTTP user, currently $70/month on 50mbps

I've rolled the dice on Dodo 100/20 via Whistleout for $63.80/month for six months. Day one, so far so good.

If you don't post back in day two, we'll know why

    Superloop for 6 months.
    50/20 $59/m.
    100/20 $69/m.

    Leaptel for 12 months.
    50/20 $64.95/m.
    100/20 $74.95/m.

Aussie BB 1 month for $0.
    Coupon code: STARS

    • Superloop offered me $75 for 12 months to match LeapTel. Their retention has increased over the last 18 months - I started out at $64. Seems it goes up by $5 each time.

also note The first retention offer is low. Insist they check with fake manager and within a second another $5 is applied.

    Any nbn Deal for FTTP?

Yes, 3 months free with More Telecom.
    Then 15% off after that…

    • Never heard of them. Reliable? Went to their website, didn't see any mention of free 3 months? Or am I looking at the wrong place?

      • Never heard of them. Reliable?

They are part owned by CBA.

I'm on a 250/25 plan and getting around 265/23 most of the time.

Been with them for about 18 months. Not one single problem with the connection.

        • more is rubbish

          • @Wiadro: not rubbish…

            • @jv: very rubbish, couldnt get connected for 3 days, they said nbn issue, I then signed up with superloop and was back online in 15 min.

              • @Wiadro:

I then signed up with superloop

I was with superloop the year before I joined More Telecom and the speeds with Superloop were about 10% less and the pings twice as slow

              • @Wiadro: They use a different type of authentication than most other ISP.

This required username and password data to be input into the modem/router. Most will just connect automatically.

                • @Lichen6420: Yeah it’s a pppoe connection rather than the other one.
                  But still it never worked.
I have pppoe with swoop atm and there’s no connection issue

      • didn't see any mention of free 3 months?

        It's for all CBA customers…

    • Is it worth opening free bank acc with cba to get the deal?

      • Depends how much you would be saving compared to the next best deal and how much you value that saving.

        • Standard transaction count?

          • @Lancerx: Any account, as long as you are a CBA customer.

I have a business account with them and a credit card, and a CDIA account.
            All are fee free.

I was on 12 month CommBank discount with More and they were pretty good. Even better, I recently received a 35% off/mo for 12-months through Commbank app and More are applying it to my account for another 12-months. Score.

    • Did you speak to More to get the 35% applied to your account?

      • +1

Yep, via live chat last Friday. Explained my 12 month promo was ending, but I had a new one from CommBank Yello. They asked for a screenshot of it within the app, and as of today, is now applied for the next 12 months.

        • Cheers gonna try my luck

  • anyone tried exetel before?

    • The Exetel service is reportedly pretty good (they are owned by Superloop), just be aware of the unnecessary final money grab where you are obliged to give them 30 days notice before leaving.

I think LeapTel is the better option over Exetel though.

  • I have been with Exetel FTTP for the last 6 months and it all started off with a consistent speed but after 3-months it started dropping and for the last two months its really bad most of the time. Surprisingly, since I gave the 30days notice to cancel, their speed doesn't even go beyond 50Mbps even after applying speedboost. I am on 50/20 FTTP and not happy at all.

    • Something isn't right at all, whether this an issue with Exetel or an issue with your setup remains to be seen, I recommend activating Launtel on another port and taking advantage of their 7 day free trial - at least then you 'll be able to point the finger at Exetel with some certainty.

      • Yes, checked and the issue remains the mostly the same except at late night the speed comes back up. Anyway moving to another provider regardless as I have made up my mind.

  • NBNCo are gradually increasing the cost to ISPs for the lower tier plans such as 25/5Mbps and 50/20Mbps so you might find a lot of ISPs increasing prices on these over the next 12 to 18 months. Prices are coming down on the higher speed plans though 100Mbps and above so it all comes down to how much you are willing to spend.

    • Future Broadband is a good bet to be able to stay on a grandfathered plan.

Some wholesale providers haven't updated pricing yet, so this will eventually affect all NBN providers.

  • Anyone has current experience with More FTTP as I used this in the past and experience was good. Looking at the 50/20Mbps NBN for "$0.00/mth for 3 months, then $79.20/mth ongoing so effectively $59.40/mth for 12 months.

  • time to look for better deal, since my superloop 6 months reduction is coming to an end. Any suggestion? switch back to Tangerine? Would that work?

    • Talk to Superloop and ask for the same deal again. You could swap to Exetel or Leaptel.

  • Looks like its cheaper to just get 100/50 speed plan now too.
