Recommend Me a Mesh System

Hi guys, just recently upgraded to 250/25 internet speed (NBN), I'm looking to replace my current router TP-Link AX5400 to mesh as connection signal is really bad at the back of the house (no signal to 1 bar sometimes).

Anyone got recommendations for a reliable mesh system? I've looked into Netgear Orbi so far which seem to have good reviews.
Would be to cover 2.5 stories and 5 bedrooms. Based on experience, how many satellites would you recommend?

I'm on a HFC connection if that means anything.

Recommendations much appreciated, thanks :)

eero mesh system for sure. Flawless for me. 3 units will be more than enough.

Regular version on sale right not (although ATL is $199): https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B085Q2ZF1X/

The eero 6+ version is $449 but don't believe you'll really need that.

Deco is very user friendly. That or eero. Tri band is better but for general home use (not gaming or multi HD streaming) you probably wont notice. Wifi 6 is also 'better' but if your internet plan isnt particulaly fast then having a mesh system that can 'go faster' than the home plan doesnt make any difference.

Get a three pack, if it doesnt work well enough you can just add more. I would probably look at 1 per floor plus one on the .5 floor, but depends on the floor size - if you can locate them centrally (to the floor plan) then that should be good enough, but if you have big floors then you can look at adding a couple extra in high use locations

  • I thought those Archer AX73 routers had Mesh built in

  • if you're on a budget you can consider something like this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/335269327722

  • I've got the deco s4 (3 pack), got it from amazon for 150 i think. Works pretty well for a "budget" mesh system

Your existing router supports mesh already. You can just get a compatible extender like the RE705X and set this up closer to your dead spot.

    • Ended up getting this, works great, thanks :)

Great to hear that it works well. I've got a TP-Link mesh system and I'm happy with the coverage.

  • Get a TP-Link AX5400 if you want a reliable Mesh system built in.
I bought this one yesterday, it's recently come down in price to $247. Free delivery with One Pass:

  • Got Deco S4 - 3 pack. Works really well. Covers complete house including backyard and speed is good.

  • Hi all, thanks for the help! Didn’t realise I had mesh built in my router, got the RE705X extender recommended above and it works great.

  • I thought I’d resurrect this thread instead of creating a new one. Kind of similar question but it will be for a 7 bedroom, two stories, 8-10 people household. I’m looking at 245 download speed and need for streaming services and possible gaming too.

What is my best option for a mesh system up to $500? Would you recommend main router plus two satellites or more?

At our previous place, we had an old Netgear Orbi which worked good but it’s confusing how many different options there are to choose from these days.
