Which Physical Store Do You Buy Your White Goods from

I usually buy flour, sugar and salt from Coles.

    • And your favourite snack; white paste.

    • Aldi cheaper than Coles

    • Icing sugar: A substance currently investigated by our censor Karen just in case it needs a less offensive name….

    • I buy my white goods from the guy with a gucci bum bag outside the club toilet.

Whichever one is cheapest? Why would you pick one shop to buy things from?

The one with the most obnoxious grifter CEO, so Harvey Norman

Explains why people buy the hwhitegood Tesla car…

      • Maybe Harvey Norman should start selling Teslas.

Tgg , mainly because they have some decent cashback agreements with the cashback providers

    • Whatever happened to your ‘four finger discount dude’ mantra?

Can’t fit dishwasher under my beanie or vest :(

        • You might need a bigger vest.

Dick Smith hasn't had physical stores for like 15 years, I'm pretty sure they also never sold whitegoods

Disappointed OP didn't put Brashs as a choice.

      • we bought a few things from Brashs' including one of their homebrand 68cm CRT tvs
        .

They did sell whitegoods briefly in the larger stores.

They had a last minute ditch effort to try and survive where they became like jbhifi/goodguys I think they called them powerhouses they had kettles/toasters/microwaves/washing machines.

It was disappointing as they got rid of the nerdier stuff from those shops so it made no sense they where called dick smiths.

      • Woolworths: Masters of attempting a "Gerry" mander, flat on their noose.

Harvey Norman. As much as I despise the owner you can't go past the good range of products that are in stock. Don't pay RRP, do your homework and push them hard for a deal.

  • +5

I wouldn't consider electric blankets or vacuum's whitegoods, but for the bigger items, pretty much everything online these days (Appliances Online or whatever works out cheapest).

Find the model i want —> google the model to find the cheapest store/seller —> price beat at TGG.

Why limit to physical store ?

E&S trading was good for us if you deal with the right employee. On one occasion, they loosely price matched from a grey import and on another they threw in a bonus that was no longer in promo. If you don't like to negotiate, don't bother.

    • I gave them a sob story about my broken dryer and they dropped the price even though they were already cheapest!

    • E&S are spectacular, one of the only retailers that actually focuses on knowing their products too.

You can ask them questions they will go find answers if they don't know.

They also deliver one of the few places where I would pay a small premium however they have always been the cheapest.

Just got WM from Samsung direct.

Looking at a fridge and itll probably be HN or the local place depending on sales.

All our kitchen stuff came from a local small retailer as they beat everyone else (October supplier sales)

    Small stuff - Kmart, Myer

I don't understand the question. I open tabs all the websites you named (except Dick Smith) and compare all the options. Don't have a preference.

JB is the only one where I would go to get other electronics and then wander around the white goods section and potentially make a spontaneous purchase. Happen to have a buddy that works at my local JB soo

For small appliances, I hate shopping in store at Kmart though. Would rather go to Big W, Target, Ikea and that's only if I can't find anything of decent value on Amazon.

  • Balanced of price and how easy it is. Generally involving a price match.

Preference against Harvey Norman unless it is significantly cheaper due to offers.

    • Same. Pretty much given up on HN.

Their cusromer service training seems to be avoid the customer if they look like theyre buying, but harrass them if theyre just looking.

Harvey Norman are sales people are generally pretty useless.

        • I had three employees pretend to freak out when I turned down a "global" hardly normal warranty. Global meaning countries with hardly normals.
        • ripped off people I know selling them an overspecced junk laptop
        • when buying a outright phone, bringing up a mobile plan multiple times despite me stating I wasn't interested
        • refusal to price match as the sales considered smaller retailers to be grey imports
        • unable to price match other retailers

I don't think I've even dealt with Harvey Norman more than other retailers but have had many more bad experiences.

        • -2

I get my free coffee there whilst blocking 2 spots of them click and collect spots. They are closer than the disabled spots. Just in case they actually do honor the warranties from the past.

Times have changed people. Be more open minded and consider coloured goods too, not just white goods

Yeah, don't be racists, get stainless steel lol

In SA, the Betta stores are very popular, especially in rural areas.

  • The last 4 white goods i purchased were from 4 different stores. Is the survey for the last item or are you thinking people only ever buy their white goods from the same place all the time. The last 4 items were purchased from Bunnings, Goodguys, Retravision and Harvey Norman.

    • OP try to prove, that branding works "Good Guys", just as "Terri Scheer".

  • Need a new vacuum?
Go to Australia's richest ex vacuum salesman, yes the one who kept a dog with a false name.
There I make use of free demo, conduct what Murdoch describes as a sale and later pay the online place that delivers to my door and still actually gives me a warranty.

All the etc I order from them etc stores…

    Appliances Online.

  • our most recent - Spartan Electrical (SA)
    .

    justice for binglee

  • E&S most recently. Incredible to deal with and they will haggle over chat!

  • at $250 to $400 a gram I don't think you can get from a physical store

    • You'd probably be less of a poor ass if you laid off the coke

      • who said anything about coke?

        • Better be straight off the block for $400

          • @scrambledeggs: have you tried to make the ultimate scrambled eggs?

you have to use a boiling water in a saucepan to heat up the pan

    • Yeah online only 😉

  • +2

Appliances online the last few, physical stores are rarely if ever the cheapest nowadays unless they are willing to price match the online store, even then the delivery options for the online store usually end up better.

    Winning Aplliances == Appliances Online

We have bought our last 15 years worth of whitegoods from Appliances Online (3 washers, 2 dryers, 2 dishwashers, 2 fridges - not all for one property thankfully).

We bought a very niche induction cooktop and rangehood from Winnings after seeing it in person in their bricks and mortar store.

    • +2

We bought a fridge last year from Winnings, great customer service, super easy price match and quick delivery.

    • +1

Appliances Online has been great for us too. For about 12 months though they changed policy to not price match, but now they do again so no complaints.

    • +1

Yes, bought dishwashers and fridges over the years from appliances on line. Usually the cheapest and free removal of the broke stuff, which GSTGarvey and the good guys charge for.

In our current kitchen replacement can’t go past the advice and service offered by winning appliances. And they price matched commercial rates.
As they are one and the same, buy known stuff from AO, but if seeking advice physically go to Winning.

    • +1

Yup, absolutely go here. Not only do they have good deals on budget models, you can have a look at how the other half live with their Sub-Zero fridges and Wolf cooktops. There is some very very nice gear to drool over.

  • +1

I don't, all are online stores

  • I have used "Appliances Online" quite a bit. But honestly, I just shop with whoever is cheapest.

  • Harvey Norman which is close by and the usually do price match so it doesn't matter.
Some goods tho are far cheaper at Amazon AU with same day/next day delivery without having to leave home.

  • HN actually stands out but only if you get them to price match

  • I used to mainly shop at TGG but now use Retravision Cannington (I'm not sure if they have stores outside of WA) as there's a lovely Indian saleswoman there who knows her products and always gives me a good deal. You get an extra 5% off with RAC membership.

I've never shopped at HN and never will. TGG Commercial is a good option sometimes if you can get access to it.

  • Just bought a new LG fridge from Good Guys.

Appliance Online was selling the item for $2198 and Bing Lee could only go down to $2280.

GG price matched and gave free delivery since it was part of some LG promotion.

Harveys still had their sale price as $2499.
