Yes. Of course I can also do that.

I was wondering if anyone was able to get their SIM(s) activated by contacting T-Mobile in USA.

T-Mobile in the US will tell you that your sim is not in their system.
I had to contact Australian seller who did activate the sim a couple of days late.

Hmmm… So, it is possible that the seller only adds credit to these cards when (just before) they ask T-Mobile to activate them? It looks like sellers (this seller in particular) could just run away with all the money and never activate the SIMs.

Are you talking about SIMcardsforTravel or a different seller? If SIMcardsforTravel, when was this?

      Thanks.

  • I have the same problem, no reply to my emails. What's the best way to get this activated? Of course I can do a Paypal chargeback but I get more value using the sim.

Well, wildbill has not replied. So we don't know if they were referring to simcardsfortravel or not.

You could try contacting T-Mobile support via their Twitter account @TMobileHelp

      • My sim mysteriously got activated after 5 days. Still no reply to my emails.

So your SIM got activated 5 days into your trip? As I'm only going for a week I'm concerned that mine won't be activated when I land in the US.

Are TMobile helpful in this/these situations?

        • My sim mysteriously got activated after 5 days. Still no reply to my emails.

Would you please be more forthcoming with information?

          For example:-

Was it activated 5 days after you stared trying to contact the supplier?

Had you previously given the supplier an activation date?

Was it activated after your arrival in the USA?

If it was, how long after you arrived in the USA was it activated?

Does the SIM have credit ($60) on it?

Anything else you can tell us? Did you have any contact with T-Mobile?

          Thank you.

5 days after my nominated activation date that I told simcardsfortravel.com. I did twitt T-mobile as you suggested too but we didn't get far enough for them to be able to do anything before I realised my sim card now works (didnt get twitter reply until several hours later, they wouldn't have sufficient details to do anything yet).
I was reading through the original thread, someone else mentioned 5 days late too.

        • @delfredo: Unfortunately I needed one on day of arrival so I had to buy a local sim from AT&T being nearest shop to me, and it costed US$49 after taxes for 1.5gb of 4G data after that it is unlimited but slow data.

        • @delfredo:
Ultimately you get the best value if you can get your simcardsfortravel sim activated. A real bargain at A$25 for 3gb of high speed data.

        • @A3Australia:
I checked my T-mobile account, it was loaded on US$70 plan which is exactly the plan features we expected. Not bad that we paid only A$25, only problem is it doesn't work on our nominated activation date. You might get lucky if you can wait 5 days. But no guarantee.

Thank you for all the additional information.

Unfortunately I never gave them any activation date on purchase. It was to be supplied closer to the departure date in early/mid December.

          I will give @Tmobilehelp a try.

  • I sent the following email a month ago:

    Hello,

I am not confident that my SIM card will work when I get to the USA.

    Is your company still operating?

Check out with PayPal from your web site currently gives an "Account Restricted" error. Others on OzBargain report non working SIM cards. The SIM cards are apparently not activated automatically but reliant on your database for you to activate when required.

I would seek a refund if I cannot be assured the SIM card will work on my arrival.

    Regards,
    AC.

    Got the reply:

    Hi AC,
    Thanks for your email.

Currently we are having issues with Paypal and converting over to a Business Account, this is why our account has been restricted. But we are definitely still in business.
We do realize that we have had a few problems when we first started, as this is still a new business. But we have fixed the issue with our database and sim cards are being activated according to the right date.

    Regards,
    Sofia

Not convinced so I just picked up one from here.

If the SimCardsForTravel one works, no harm in my wife and I having one each, otherwise I have a backup and I'm still within the time frame for a Paypal claim.

      To what address?

In my case we never specified an activation date. It was to be supplied closer to the departure date.

I just arrived in the US and 2 of my SIMs do not work.

Theres no contact number listed on the website, and 4 emails to no avail.

Should i just get a local SIM and get a chargeback thru paypal guys? This is getting ridiculous.

  • My SIM worked fine.

I had sent them a reminder email the day before I was leaving, and received a reply same day saying that it was already set for activation. Expiry date was a day earlier than expected (must have been activated on the requested date in Australia, where the USA is a day behind). Would have been an issue if my holiday was a day longer, but as it was it wasn't a problem.

Received a letter and a replacement SIM saying some of the first SIMs sent out were defective, however I tried the original and replacement SIMs and they both activated.

    Happy with that.
