Such bad quality since they went overseas.

    • I haven't had any issues with their hoodies and undies (maybe I'm just lucky) - have you had a bad experience?

      • I've got some bonds trunks and they've been fine as well. Maybe @seaword is only negging because they used to make here and now they don't ??

        • +3

no he is right, I used to buy Bonds for about the last 20 years. Definitely the quality has gone down in the texture and feel as well as the longevity. At least of the products i use, I cant speak for all their products. Such a shame as I used to buy so many of them.

        • +4

Seaword might have had a bad experience, which is fair enough, I haven't had any issues so far so I shared the deal.

        • +3

@lonewolf: Would agree quality has gone down, still, it's far from bad quality from what I've bought. Not really neg worthy.

        • @captnrosco: i find/think it's because they're constantly modifying the design.

    • Is there a decent/ok priced alternative? I need some business and sports socks

Looks great but I can't bring myself to spend $16-$20 on a pair of socks, do they ever have decent sales?

        • +1

@Chickenleg: Im unaware but they're made from merino and will last for years.

        • -4

          @Chickenleg:

You need to get into the habit of annualising costs. A quality garment will last several times longer than an inferior one, such that the value equation is a lot more palatable the at first blush. Consider also that the garment will feel and look a lot better during the time you use it (and, as is often the case with shoes, denim and some jackets, may even get better with age).

        • @Shiny Mew: that's all well and good for shoes, denim, and jackets, but all I want is some budget socks here.

        • @Shiny Mew:

          OK mum

        • @Shiny Mew:
          verbal diarrhea

      • On sale $8.00 business socks reduced from $12.95
        Socks for living

        • +1

Also looks good but at 82% cotton and still made in China, probably not too different from Bonds, no?

        • @Chickenleg: I think you're right :(

        • Good price. Strange that some of the grays have 36% polyester and the others don't

        • They're made from cotton and plastic though.

    • +3

Agree. Quality went down and the prices went off. Bonds trunks are stupidly expense. Can get brands including Calvin Klein at around half the price

      • from where can you get CK for half the price. im curious!

        • Costco sell 3 packs for around $30. Believe they sell Ben Sherman at similar price. Need to be a member though which is $60/yr

        • @4agte: i see. tnx 4 da reply mate

        • +1

CK is not the same as Calvin Klein. The former is an inferior, 'diffusion' brand sold on international marketplaces such as eBay.

    • True. Few of their socks are made in Vietnam and are of a little better quality. Often on 50% off on coles, woolies, bonds or target.
Their undies packs are not of great quality, but single ones are ok, but a little pricey compared to other options.

      • +3

        "on 50% off on"

        LOL

    • +1

Yep. 40% off everything, doesn't make up for the 80% off their quality.

    • +1

Agreed. The elastic in their clothing is junk. Just doesn't last.

    • +2

Buy from 'Tuffys & Tuffettes' instead. It's made in Australia and was founded by Bonds employees who were laid off when manufacturing operations moved to China and the quality, in my experience, is significantly better.

Another brand to consider is Package and, though their brand name and obnoxiously loud branding on the elastic part can be daggy, AussieBum also.

It's not worth saving a few dollars by buying inferior imported underwear when it is one of the only remaining areas of clothing manufacturing where competent Australian producers still exist and the garments are still quite affordable.

      • Aussiebums is great quality. Looks hot too.

    • I have two underwear same kind bought at different times and the earlier pair are much better quality than the later. I have to agree with a decline in quality.

  • +1

$15 for trunks still dear. I pick them up for $10 - $12.50 on their buy 2 for 1 deal.

    • -1

Big W always has bonds trunks at 3 for $30 as well. They're ok and a reasonable price, but I find the bonds online ones seem a little better fit for me.

      • +1

If you buy 3 or more online, it activates the 3 for $30 discount. Basically once you get to 3, it makes them $10 each for 3 or over.

        • Thanks for that. I'll do that next time.

        • On what site?

        • @Bronwyn Bishop: Bonds online store, but I only tried it for briefs, maybe not trunks?

        • +1

@redcreek200: Sorry, just double checked, only seems to work for Fit briefs, not trunks :( I seem to have bought the only briefs/trunks that have the 3 for $30 discount.

  • Waste of money. Kmart socks are $8 for a pair of 5 and they are thin enough so you don't sweat as much. Cheap alpha underwear too. Bonds is a lie. Even Colesworth have hiked the price up a few dollars. Tried out Bonds for near 2yrs recently with the 50% specials and have now given up. Will never go back.

    • +5

From my experience, Kmart socks don't compare to Bonds. It's cheap for a reason. Still buying Bonds when I see a good sale on. You might get some bargains ocassionally at their outlet stores.

      • +1

Cheap and worth it as opposed to Bonds which is just overpriced by now.

    • I've got both bonds and the kmart alpha trunks. The alpha are good for the price, but not as good as bonds in my opinion. Maybe it's fit. Alpha's are a looser fit and less snug/supporting. Again, just my experience.

    • Always wanted a pair of 5.

    • +1

      "for a pair of 5"

      Wait what?

      • $8 for 5 pairs.

  • +1

Best socks I've ever worn were Bonds and that was AFTER they started making them overseas… Nothing else comes close. Sadly they're $5 a pair in this sale - I always find a 3 pack for $10-12 on sale at Harris Scarfe.

  • +6

Tells you enough about the decline in quality that Bonds is regularly 40% off. In fact you'd be mad to pay full price, it tends to be every second week at the supermarkets.

  • Nice, I love me a good bonds!

  • +2

40% off bonds stuff, must be tuesday again…

They seem to consistently cycle 40-50% off sales between bonds store, woolworths and coles.

    • I have a my pacific brands login through work, bonds is permanently 30% off, often more. Definitely a huge mark up there.

      • Discount should be permanent since manufacturing is now in China. Cost to produce the same product is now cheaper.

My wife was in Myer today and combined the bonds 40% off from this promo with the Myer One extra 10% off. The deal stacked with a Myer "hot price" promotion (some items 50% off RRP already). We ended up getting the 5 pack of kids socks less than $2.50, 4 pack kids undies $3.50 ($8.37 on link above), bought multiples. My wife came back a few hours later to buy more and Myer had stopped stacking this offer on all its hot price promotions. Win for us, nothing to post for OZB though.

    • +1

We'll accept your wife as a suitable compensation then.

  • got some workboot socks. used cash rewards too cheers.

  • Bonds always has 50% off in their EOFY or Boxing Day sales

  • The outlet stores at places like DFO also have the 40% of the stuff that is already reduced as well as full priced items. Got some trackies that are listed on the website for $29 for $18.

  • Hmm,. The quality has definitely dropped. I received my order. The material seems a lot thinner and the cut seems way off. As in some parts are tight, other parts are loose or dangling off me. But the worst part was one of them arrived with a HOLE!!! in it…. WOW I used to love Bonds.
