Google Home and can map no-go zones?

    • Yep

      • Thought only S60 had it but will have another looksie.

360 S6 or S7 or whatever it's called is another option I guess

        • +2

Some good discussion here (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/509972) re recent experience with the 360 S7. I was tossing up between the S50 and 360 S7 for a while until this price came up.

          • @LuigiC: Thanks mate appreciate it. Yeah tossing up between the two because my iLife v7s is a piece of crap and getting long in the tooth now - also cos it's first gen robot that just bumps into things rather than being actually smart.

        • Speaking from experience, had s50 for about 4 months now. I think the S6 or S7 might be able to save multiple maps whereas s50 can only save one as far as I'm aware.

          • +1

            @spiff: Yep, that's correct; 3 maps for the s60 and 10 for the s7

  • Do these robot vacuums have a HEPA filter?

    • +1

yes, comes with E11 grade washable HEPA filter

  • awesome thanks for this. been waiting for these to get below 480 for a while.

  • Sorry for not doing my research on these but with technology nowadays can robo vacs like this 3d map a room and then I tell it to avoid certain parts or am I asking for too much with too little? Thanks.

    • +1

It's more like a 2D map but yes you can make no go zone and I think invisible wall

      • +2

What if the room is always changing with kid's toys and all? If it's solid enough does it just bounce off? Or does it get stuck trying to vacuum up olaf and sven?

        • +1

It's a vacuum, so anything that is left on the floor and can get stuck will get stuck and stop the vacuum.

        • +1

If it's solid it bounces off, if it's soft it pushes them away, if they've got loose cords…sometimes it will get stuck on them

  • +1

Finally a semi- low price. I have s50 for almost 2 years now. Super happy with it gonna jump on it

    • +8

Don't jump on it! You'll break it!

  • Been using mine on auto timer 3 times a week for 12 months now. Over christmas it got stuck under a stool and the charging base died, replaced for 50bucks from aliexpress. Really missed it when it wasn't around, that's when you really appreciate it!

    • +2

I wish i could have a clean enough house that i could put mine on schedule mode it gets stuck on random kids toys and other BS left around the house. I borrowed mine to my mum for a week so i could convince her to buy one and missed it a lot.

I love the dudes chan and he has some great content on all the differences of the vaccums.
I bought my S50 for $465 around 9 months ago and been the best purchase in years. Save so much time and effort and so much better value than the S6.

  • +1

Bought one last deal - it really is fantastic, couldn’t ask for more. House has never been cleaner.

    • +1

Agree. Game changer. Had my doubts before we purchased one, now, would never be without it.
I try and convince others to get one, and I laugh ruefully at that same skepticism in their eyes…

  • +1

How well does the mopping function work?

    • +2

If the floor is mostly clean, it will be like gently wiping a damp sponge over things.

      • I wondered this too. Thanks for feedback.

  • What about jumping? We have lots of steps in our place.. Some up to 12cm…

    • +4

I'd recommend jumping, it's good exercise.

    • +1

It doesn't jump. It can't climb steps either. You'd need to lift it manually to the area on a different level.

  • I got one of these the vacuum is amazing 5 stars the mops is pretty average 2 stars but overall if you dont have thick carpet this an amazing unit m

  • Don't forget to activate maps beta to get the most out of your vacuum

    • How?

    • What features are in the beta that might be worth it?

      • Saves the map.

I just got an s50 today and couldn't figure out why maps were not saving until I realised you can to activate maps beta

        • +1

oh right i just assumed that was a given and an obvious menu item. I was expecting to be able to save multiple maps or something.
To enable in the Mi Home app on android. When on map, press 3 dots (top right) > Vaccum settings > Map saved mode (Beta)

      • Virtual walls and no go zones.

  • How's the warranty and return policy for Kogan ?

    • +12

Like trying to return a used surfboard purchased from a bogan on gumtree

    • -4

I got a S50 and it's crap, and Roborock don't want to know you. I'd never buy a robot vacuum again unless there was a physical store i could walk in to return it.

      • LowRange, what happened to yours? Its one of the highest rated vaccums on the market.

        • -1

Known bug that Roborock refuse to fix. And what a joke, people neg others because they encountered an issue. That's why i dont both posting deals on here i find, nor bother voting on deals anymore.

          • +3

            @LowRange: Still none the wiser??

            • -2

@Ozbargainasaurus: Yep and going by the negs nobody wants to know. So people can just buy it and see if the bug effects them and go through the hassle and expense of trying to do a return rather then knowing before they buy.

          • @LowRange: Hi, LowRange thanks for the feedback. Can you please elaborate on the bug. I tried to google it but all I found was positive reviews.

            • -1

@UltimateAI: Try again, there's thousands of results with frequent issues such as lidar failures, main board failures, map rotation bugs, magnetic sensor bugs, cliff sensors errors on dark carpets, brush errors to name a few. Not to mention the amount of encrypted data the unit uploads.

I was on the beta testing team for Roborock, so pretending there's only positive reviews is amusing.

    • +1

Reasonable if you have a reasonable issue, most people complain when returning due to change of mind and get denied and complain.

  • Ordered mine.thanks op. Now showing out of stock.

  • you'll be lucky when you won't have to do vacuuming anymore and become even more lazier.

  • Can it differentiate between tiles and carpet ? I remember s7 is able to do that , is that right ?

    • +1

It has a carpet mode you can turn on and when it hits carpet it cranks up to turbo mode.

  • Doesn't the free postage only apply to items labelled as eligible for Kogan First?

    • This one is eligible. There is a banner saying that at top

  • Hope you guys didn't have to wait as long as me to get it. I bought this one thru Kogan Dec 26 and only received it Jan 24 due to being on backorder (which wasn't mentioned when order was placed).

Side note, they did give me $50 credit due to this

  • +1

World-weary/hard-bitten early OzBargainer, very displeased by some of the newer developments in robot-vac technology
    :)

  • This model is sold out - Does it apply to the standard Xiaomi Roborock S50 Robot Vacuum? I can't seem to figure out where to add the promo code :/
