What's the ozbargain way to get argon and the bottle? Cheapest and most convenient way I've come up with is bunnings, $200 deposit, and $99 for gas. Don't have to pay recertification etc. There is a company in WA that does it cheaper, buy they are in WA and I am not. Anyone got someone they recommend?

They only do rental from what I can tell, which isn't worthwhile for occasional home work.
You want to own the bottle? And how much is rental on a C or D sized cylinder? I know the Bunnings one has a refundable deposit, but if a C sized cylinder is $4 a month, there is a lot of months rental in $200…
It is, but I can give them the bottle back and get my $200 at any time. I'll have a bit more of a look into rental, but from my memory of oxy acetylene, rental wasn't cheap. As I'll be teaching myself to Tig, I'll also probably waste a heap of gas making terrible welds 😂
@brendanm: You can get disposable bottle for MIG/TIG as well. We have TIG machines at work and they uses a small disposable bottle that sits inside the unit. TIG doesn’t use a lot of gas, so a small bottle may work while you learn.
Also check out ebay. There are a few places on there that offer bottles of gas with no rental costs and are swappable at a few different places.

You get the $200 back. If you left it in the bank you'd net around $3 a year, not even one month's rental.
Just had an online chat with boc, they do a no deposit, no rental "plan". D bottle is $108 "per year", $108 refill. E is $199, $199 refill, g is $219, $219 refill. Not too badly priced really.
Last one I got was the smaller disposable bottle. Might cost more per litre, but for the amount I use it’s not a big investment. Be lucky to use one in a year.
I think I use this WA company you speak of, they`re great. I found them via another company doing the same thing over east on ebay. Maybe it was these guys, not too sure

Just call them up and ask how much for the cylinder of gas and whats the deal with rental or deposit.
Better know in advance what size cylinder you require
Try BOC, Supergas, Air Liquide, Puregas, Coregas
