[iOS, iPadOS, macOS] Bonus $10 App Store & iTunes Gift Card, after Making an Apple Pay Transaction with a Linked Westpac Card

150

A reminder to check your emails to see if you have been targeted with this offer. It is similar to a previous deal late last year, except you get an App Store & iTunes Gift Card this time around, plus you only need to make one Apple Pay purchase.

If you complete this activity, please check your spam/junk folders for the $10 gift card, as this happened to some people during the previous promotion.

Things you should know:

For a list of eligible Westpac cards, see https://www.westpac.com.au/faq/apple-pay-eligible-cards/.

For a list of compatible Apple Pay devices, see support.apple.com/en-au/HT208531.

This offer commences on 19/05/2021 and ends 30/06/2021. To be eligible for the $10 App Store & iTunes Gift Card, during the offer period you must:

  1. Receive an invitation to participate in this offer;
  2. Add your eligible Westpac Card ending in <card number> to your Apple Wallet; and
  3. Make one transaction purchase using your Westpac Card ending in <card number> via using Apple Pay by 30/06/2021.

You will receive a link to redeem your App Store & iTunes Gift Card within 21 days of meeting the eligibility criteria outlined above. Your email address must not change throughout the offer period to ensure you can receive your App Store & iTunes Gift Card.

This offer is limited to one App Store & iTunes Gift Card per customer and available while stocks last. This offer is not available in conjunction with any other offer and is not refundable or redeemable for cash.

NOTE (26 MAY): Some people (including me) had their PayWear “cards” targeted for this offer. Westpac customer service has confirmed that PayWear “cards” are not actually eligible for this promotion, as it does not support Apple Pay.

  • Check if you have the paywear card, I didn’t think I had a card until I logged into my account and checked the cards section on the app.

    • Bingo!

I completely forgot I ordered a PayWear card nearly four years ago. I’m fairly sure I ordered it, because I saw that Westpac was giving away free stuff, and ordered it before I put any thought into what I was ordering. Who knew that meant I would be eligible for a $10 gift card all these years later?

      • But how does one put a paywear card (which was the card in my email from westpac) in my apple pay wallet?

        • You need the details on the cardholder (i.e. card number, expiry date, name on card) that came with PayWear card. If you don't have that, I'd suggest reaching out to Westpac to see if they can help you.

          • @WookieMonster: I also got offer on PayWear card, but there's no way to add it to ApplePay as it has no CVV number. I tried with the Westpac app and can't find any option to add PayWear cards too. Guess it's not possible to use ApplePay with PayWear.

@Newgod: In all fairness, we all should have probably checked the list of eligible cards first, as the PayWear card is not listed as an eligible card. However, the T&Cs in the email I received today states that the PayWear card is eligible…

I’ll contact Westpac tomorrow to see what they say.

              • @WookieMonster: Thanks mate. Hope it will work as they shouldn't send an unobtainable offer. Feel like being tricked into activating the abandoned PayWear card lol.

@Newgod: I just got off the phone with Westpac.

The lady on the phone confirmed the PayWear card is definitely not eligible for this promotion, because it does not support Apple Pay. She also said it is technically a chip, not a card (e.g. it doesn’t have a CVV, only supports contactless/NFC payments), which is the main reason it does not support Apple Pay.

She will be sending feedback to the relevant team, alerting them to the error in targeting PayWear “cards” for this promotion. She said it will be up to that team regarding next steps.

                  • @WookieMonster: Such a pity we’re not included, but anyway thanks for the info mate!

                  • @WookieMonster: Thanks for the update. This offer sounds like a mistake from Westpac!

Not limited to iOS, as can be redeemed/claimed on Mac.

    Also, I got a $20 offer, not $10

  • Out of curiosity did anyone get multiple $10 Apple iTunes cards? Ie like six of them for a total of $60?
    Asking for a friend.

    • got 5 lol.

      • Hehe. Yeah, was very surprised that they did that and they all worked. No emails after that saying there was a mistake or anything either.
