      It's more of a stylish uni/business laptop, you lose on the GPU but you get slim designs. One could, however, add an external GPU to this

    @codeXD I needed a portable mix that can do both tasks and is a touchscreen. For me personally, I have had XPS before and have an Aurora R12 with rtx3090 for home and a castaway m18x and a Samsung galaxy book, none of them are a good mix of medium gaming and portability with decent battery life and is not heavy like a brick, so it is the perfect one for me.

    Hp omen with 2060 or Lenovo slim you name it, I have checked them all but they focus too much on gaming alone, low battery life, and heavy plus they don't have a touchscreen. I am an IT security guy sometimes I just want to lay in my bed and have few games before i have to sit at my PC again :)

    Sorry I am a developer and currently using this one. I would say this is a trash.

    Buggy sleep mode (will wake up itself in your backpack and get extremely hot)

    Trash network card(Killer), cutting out from time to time for both wifi and Bluetooth.

    Terrible keyboard layout

    CPU temperature usually 80°C up and you can google it, most ppl get the response from Dell said the Intel chip is designed for up to 100°C

    Cases:
    1. Our senior had the motherboard replaced as the GPU was dead.
    2. Unreliable sleep mode forces you to check your laptop from time to time when it's in the bag
    3. Bad customer service -> being late or just absent

    Don't buy it because it's Dell, you got plenty of choices at this price I believe.

        Sorry, I don't have the answer for your question yet as I haven't researched laptops recently.

        I researched for 2 months the only one that came close to this was a Hp model which is 3k but it didn't have 4k resolution but then again not everyone wants a 4k on a small screen, the downfall however I have had many bad experiences with HP, if you don't want the touchscreen however you can go to many other ones including but not limited to HP omen with 2060 max Q as well as Lenovo if you don't mind a bit of weight and bulky looking laptop. If no graphic card is needed then surface or other options are available too.
        In regards to the temperature my Aurora R12 is Rtx3090 with an i9 processor and even though I have liquid cooling the temperature would always sit between 85-92 and I looked around but everyone said that is what they do, they get heat up a lot but they are capable of handling it. the same scenario in a laptop however can ger unpleasant as I had a similar one with the m18x as well as Hp specter so all depends on what the main use of the laptop is.
        For pure mobility I use the Samsung galaxy book it gives me to youtube etc and can go on days without a charge under normal usage and if heavy use I just use my mobile USB c charger to gain some power.

        Old thread but Lenovo Thinkpad X1 gen 4 should be a worthy competitor. Not as beautiful but at least it's reliable.

      Yeah I find even my lower i7 runs really hot and waking up from sleep mode drives me crazy now it’s connected to 2 screens in my room. The fan spinning up and the light from 3 screens means I wake up 2-3 times a night..

      similar issues for me.

      sleep/hibernate very flaky
      left speaker suddenly stops working until reboot (known issue but no fix)
      dell dock causing laptop to crash constantly, so have a very expensive brick on my desk not being used
      tech support just reinstall drivers that are already up to date.

      oh and the camera is pathetic for a premium business laptop.

      Exactly my experience also.

      In the first 4 weeks it was effectively a Ship of Theseus situation. I had:
      - Overheating and shut off. Or waking up from sleep to find a blue screen of death.
      - Turning on in bag.
      - Poor battery life due to energy management and lack of staying in deep sleep.
      - Trackpad was not stable.

      Started with a tech coming out to change cpu cooling system. Then trackpad change.
      Culminated in a full motherboard replacement.

      The only redeeming feature was the tech support package was great. They came to me. Within 1-2 days. And sending back after the 30 day period wasn't an issue either.

      I sent it back as soon as I saw the Apple M1 chipset performance and took a gamble.

      I purchased the XPS15 to have a laptop on which I could do photo and video editing with a color accurate screen. I am now accomplishing this very well on a base M1 Macbook Air as I use the Adobe suite.

    This is da bomb. I've been using one for a few mths now, 16GB version. EDIT Just checked and I have the previous i7-10750H CPU.

    Pros:
    - The 4k touch display is amazing for small fonts
    - The speakers are fantastic
    - 2nd SSD slot inside (but you need to buy your own $30ish heatsink from Dell)
    - screen opens with 1 finger
    - Dell on-site service is much better than the HP I had which had a lead time of 1-2 weeks for repairs
    - Battery life 7+ hrs which I feel is acceptable for a 4k machine

    Cons:
    - Touch screen is not compatible with active pens/stylus
    - No USB-A, though it doesn't come with a USB-C hub that has HDMI and USB-A
    - no numpad for a keyboard of this size
    - webcam is very ordinary (when compared to my previous HP Spectre), does not work well in sub-par lighting conditions
    - build quality can vary

    Forgot to add that I had heat issues similar to what someone mentioned above, plus annoyingly it wouldn't hibernate reliably despite numerous BIOS and windows updates. SD card reader died 1 mth in, a few techs came to carry out on-site repairs (this was before the previous lockdowns) but eventually got the entire laptop got replaced and this one has been flawless since with no hibernation or heat issues.

    i have been blessed to use majority of ultrabooks out there, and this is by far, the best purchased i have ever bought.

    People need to remember that this is a Productivity Ultrabook!

      Exactly my experience too, I have also had the same blessing as well as gaming desktops and laptops, there is a reason it still tops the rating charts. I wish there were more options for this sort of mix so people can have a middle ground too :)

    Stay away. Had the 10750H with FHD+ display version (around $2600) for a week. Horrible temps, malfunctioning keyboard and sleep issues. The thunderbolt port was not connected to the dedicated GPU - cannot even get a high res + refresh rate on my ultrawide monitor running windows. Absolute joke of a machine.
