Ryobi ONE+ 18V Compact HP Brushless Recip Saw & 4.0ah Battery/Charger $169 @ Bunnings

280

Can't find it on their website so I've linked the "Skin Only" to version. Went in-store to pick up this but found this great deal on the shelf at the tool shop and left with it instead. $30 cheaper than Skin Only + free 4.0ah Battery and charger but you need to purchase blades.

Possibly localised sale but it was a printed standard yellow ticket instead of a clearance orange ones so hopefully nationwide.

  • can you use this as a substitute, for a chainsaw/pole saw, to cut thick-ish tree branches and scrubs? I find chainsaws/pole saws too front heavy for me and hedge trimmers just won't work for the scrub

    • They can sometimes work ok but only if the branch being cut doesn't move easily. Otherwise the back and forth motion of the blade will just shake the tree. A thicker branch might be steady enough especially if cutting at the start of the branch.

As this particular saw is designed to be usable with one hand you might be able to use your other hand to hold the branch still while cutting.

Depending on your needs you're probably better buying a pruning saw instead which has an attachment that folds down around the branch to hold it still. Something like this.

3 left at Bunnings Parafield, SA

  • 4 at Arundel on the Gold Coast

  • Is Ryobi changing their tool system to a newer version?
    This or https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-reciprocating-saw-… ?

    • They aren't going to change it anytime soon.

I have a lots of Ozito tools but this particular one doesn't get good reviews. I have bought the Ryobi one and couldn't be happier. You could get the cheaper model if want to save money.
