Do people think the oled version is worth it over the normal one?

$80 or so more, no Mario cart, or 3 months online. But you get a bit bigger screen and a network connection.

you asked the same question previously, still deciding?

    • I think the upgrade is definitely worth it. I've got the original and to sell and upgrade just cost too much and hassle and waste $. But of course i bought it years ago so didn't have a choice. But for you should go latest and greatest. Don't regret

      • Same feeling here. I'm holding out for a Switch Pro or something which can perform better but hopefully play old games, in which case some of the games which run like crap (eg GTA Trilogy) will hopefully be significantly improved.

    • Yes I wouldn't buy the old one, screen size is critical and it's also a better quality screen in terms of image.

    • It's pretty cheap and easy to add a wired network connection to an older switch (if you need to) with something like this - https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B00MYTSN18/ - so it's really whether the screen is worth it or not.

    • If you are going to play handheld for any amount of time then yes. OLED screen looks nicer. If you're planning on using docked mode mostly then normal is better.

    • +2

If you play in handheld mode: yes.

If this is your first switch: yes.

If you already have one but only play it docked or primarily play in docked: no.

      • If you already have the OG Switch sell or trade it for the Oled….the Oled screen is definitely worth the upgrade and the dock is way better aesthetically with Ethernet port

    • Unless you already own one of the older ones with the slower/more power hungry chip, then I would buy this over the normal one.

The other thing to consider, do you intend on playing handheld often? That's primarily what it comes down to.

    Tempted just for Pokemon Arceus

    • Right! I think it really adds to the experience of playing Arceus.

    • Been loving the bigger and more vibrant screen of my oled for Arceus for the last week. Bigger batter means more playtime handheld too. I prefer the handheld even though I have an oled TV as it adds to that experience. Go in and buy it already.

    Is $499 a bargain?

    • No . Previously with stacking just over $420 was possible .
No doubt the future will bring similar opportunities .

      • I'm sure you know someone who works for one of the Woolworths companies. They always get 10% off at Big W. Pay with the 5% discount giftcards and it'll bring it down to about $424.15

        • +1

Used to work for woolies, the 10% discount now excludes consoles, has for a while now which is a real shame.

          • @Seiyaa: Did not know that. I did it to buy my original switch, but that was when it first released

        • No . Last one was JB HI FI PRice Match with 17% off gift cards . They probably price match at OP's price so $415 .
There is only 10% off cards going now .

    • -7

No it isn’t. This is also a bad console unless you are a child

  • Thanks! Bought one with the 5% off through union shopper!
