New Registered OzBargain User

Howdy,
New user (i think - been visiting for donkey's years).
It's a shame, I haven't been in a car crash to complain about (just read john's intro, and response) :D
I'm an amateur at building websites - which is what I used to do… moved on from that… but now I'm back at it again… still an amateur, though.
I love beer and playing pool at the pub.
I have many nicknames, but they were all taken when registering here, so, damn, bugger. dsfsau is a sort-of abbreviation of a website I've just revamped (see new post in Free Software/Websites).
Have fun, drink, and be merry, and watch The Last Kingdom TV series! :D
Cheers!

(oops, max 1 post per hour, damn, bugger)

  • Saw your other post, far too much effort required to bring it up to scratch that isn't worthwhile when various established sites already exist. Just contribute any deals/freebies to those audiences. Welcome and enjoy your stay.

I apologise if your nickname is MS Paint

  • I tried with a .exe on the end, but it just wouldn't go through :D

I saw your site too. Your post was deleted by a mod so I couldn't reply to it there. Easily the worst website I've ever seen in a long time. But if you're actually learning PHP and CSS itself then that's great. But it looks like it was designed in 1999, the content too looks like it was written in 1999. If you really are learning CSS and PHP and such then that's great. It wouldn't surprise me if it was made in 1999 as a side project while learning and you just kept up the hosting of it all these years.

Ideally you get a web designer to design a site visually and then you get someone to code it, or at least build it with a visual web page builder. Or you learn both skills yourself. A good web designer doesn't always know any code at all, and a good web site coder/builder doesn't always know anything about web design. If I were you I would find a web designer to work on your project with you. Someone who can make a design in Sketch/Photoshop/pen and paper/whatever, a design based on what they know you can already do. Or start learning design yourself. A good website in 2022 can be made without a coder, but it can't be made without a designer. So it'd probably be a good career move.

    • Thanks. I didn't correctly reply to your post… but if you look again, you'll see it :D

Agree, this was definitely designed in notepad for Netscape Navigator. I'm surprised it doesn't feature a guest book.

    • you learn both skills yourself.

Sounds like a million dollar idea in the making..

    Hello AustriaBargain,

    Thanks for your feedback.

I giggled with fright as I read your post.

I've been looking at getting a website designer onto it, but I'm the kind of person that likes to do everything by themselves. That obviously has to change!

    Thank you :D

When I look at that site, I hear the sounds of the old dial up modem connecting.

      A bit harsh.

I think you just promoted yourself to "The KNOB." hahahahahaha!

  • Thanks to everyone that checked out my profile to find my 1999 website with their dial-up Internet connection! :P
To those laughing at me, I did post in Free Software/Websites stating that the site is based off the original 1999 design (a moderator deleted that post).
Honestly, I haven't put a lot of 'design' effort in while I 'test the waters,' so to speak.
I'll either get someone else to redesign it for me, or I'll find a spark in my brain and come up with a new design myself… one way or the other, but I won't be going away :D

  • Just noticed that when replying to someone that just requested their post be deleted, my post/reply, and it's content is lost. That needs to be fixed. My reply should still stand, regardless of what the original post was.

  • Bye.
