  • They're price matching BigW, although i'd say most stores are probably OOS.

That is not a pretty lego model, is it…

    • +1

      yeah thats cooked

the real car has complex compound curves that is never going to work at this coarse lego scale

"Authentically detailed LEGO replica of the legendary Toyota GR Supra"

    Say no to drugs, kids.

Bubbles from the 'Trailer Park Boys'

    • +1

Doh Lego so bad I thought it was the mk iv and bought it!

  • +1

From this angle it looks significantly better.

    • Also works when I take off my glasses

      • ….and stand 15-20m back from your monitor.

  • Good price for a crap model.

  • +10

This model looks like shit. Usually they look ok but this looks like a munted Supra that's been in a head-on accident.

    Good one Lego

    • +6

      So fairly realistic then?

      • Not a big fan of the current Supra real life one, but this takes it to a new level of unrealisticism

  • +2

lol this set is up there with the adidas superstars in terms of how they look.

I love the Supra, and this absolutely does not do it justice.

    • +1

Imagine if you didnt get the headlight stickers on point

      • +5

Stickers for headlights is such a silly thing. Should've been proper clear parts,

        • All lego > $150 should be printed instead of stickers imho. Then if they get economies of scale happening hopefully make that the norm for other lower price points until eventually everything is printed.

          • @justtoreply: I never put stickers on anymore as I found them peeling off and when they do they are a real bitch to remove

  • +7

I want a champagne camry in Lego bricks.

  • -2

I like it. It's $25 not $500. I wonder if the people complaining have designed better with so few pieces?

    • +5

So if you're not a lego designer you can't critique a lego product. Got it.

      • -4

If you're going to critique it, critique it in context of how could you actually do better at that scale

Honestly, for the scale i think it's hard to improve.

        • You repeated the sentiment with different words. Sorry chief, I don’t think we need to be able to design better in order to say it looks crap.

    • Or, you know, they could just not release half-baked ideas.

  • +1

There are definitely better speed champion kits.

    • Like… all of them except this. Given lego's usually high standards, I'm pretty sure the lego gatekeeper must have been off their chops or had covid or something when this set got approved.

  • +4

I see this set getting a lot of hate, and I understand it based on the product pictures (I hated it too). The pics emphasise the weird nose choice which just doesn't look good.

But having bought and put it together, I actually think its pretty cool. Its not as good as the Audi Rally Car or the F1 Merc, but its still a pretty good set. Its far and away better than what you'd expect from the pics on the box.

    • I have it too, but don’t like it vs their other 6-stud wide cars.

      • I dont have any 6 stud wide cars, only the newer 8 stud ones. I think the Elva is the ugliest of the bunch.

        • +1

Sorry I meant 8-stud. I didn’t collect the 6-stud wide speed champions either.

  • -1

Alas, the Lego version doesn't make it any less ugly.

  • Wanted a yellow one for my collection - had this on C3x watch too, bought right away!

  • Not a fan of how they've gone about it. I'll have to make do with a full scale one :]

  • I never thought that Lego will ever make a Supra model, I wish it was the JZA80

    • Ooft. The classic.

      • +1

        She is ageing well

        • What a beauty. That shape is timeless, I tells ya. Like the RX-7 FD

          • @Munki: I agree, from that golden age of JDM cars in the '90s I think the Mazda RX-7, Honda NSX, Nissan GTR and the Toyota Supra have still remained aesthetically relevant even today

            • @TRDSupra: Yep! They're still beautiful cars even by today's standards. I'll add the S2000 in there too!

              • @Munki: Yes you are right about the S2000 but I always had a soft spot for the Supra 😉 before I bought it 20 years ago

                https://flic.kr/p/2npzKmP

                • @TRDSupra: interesting rear lights makes it look more modern.

i rekon Ive had mine for about that long too.

                  • @wisc: The lights are from Harry @supraledrears in the UK.
                    What color is yours?

                    • +1

@TRDSupra: Red, I love black cars, but the problem with black supras is that it hides its sexy curves.

It's much better suited for sleek cars without the line off the supra. Don't get me wrong, they still look fantastic.

It's like black rims look great when stationary… but look like steelies while driving.

                      Yours is particularly clean though!

    • Username and pfp checks out

  • I like the rear but that front is terrible

    • Giggity

  • Thanks OP

  • Probably one of the worse builds I've ever done
Didn't connect together at all very well
