Thanks. Officeworks have updated their prices already, so you may wish to update the title.

    Almost makes their prices reasonable

    • +1

What would be reasonable? I mean, MacBooks are already competitively priced versus comparable Windows laptops.

      • -3

Ah yes competitive pricing like $300 for 8gb more ram and $300 more for 512gb over 256, the latter of which you need because of how they cut down the 256gb

        • +1

I agree about the 'upsell' when configuring these machines, but my point is that comparable Windows Laptops are just as, if not more expensive.

Mac mini 16gb ram is only obtainable via apple stores?

  • +1

Has anyone bought a MacBook through education store and picked up in person? Do they ask for student ID verification?

    • +1

Bought a few devices that way, no issues with them asking for verification.

    • +1

so far no trouble for me.
And if they do ask, I can just say it's a birthday gift for my son/ my brother/ my nephew

Did the price go up in the last 2 weeks? These seem higher.

    • -5

It’s a common tactic, raise prices then make discounts so it seems a better deal

    • +2

No. It’s 10% off Apple’s RRP, which hasn’t changed since the computers were introduced - which is how Apple does things.

      • -2

Apple sets ridiculous pricess to begin with.

        • +1

Have you got any examples where another laptop with similar specs is significantly cheaper?

          • @ihfree: Yes.

              • +1

@ihfree: There is no other laptop with silicon chip so you cannot compare. All i know is that Apple m1 silicon prices are inflated. Only 8gb ram and 256 ssd and you paying $2k..

                Give me a break!

                • @shegeloaf: All laptops use silicon CPUs. A laptop is a lot more than ram and storage capacity.

  • Are the new models due in Sept?

    • +1

Who knows. There are only rumours. It's possible for October.

    • +1

I am waiting for the new models. I have about 2k in free giftcards from CC points over 1 year now :)

      • @shegeloaf - debating the same …

    • +1

Not really. Early 2023 more likely.

      • @TimApple Thanks - saw the M2 are a 2022 model and wasn't quite sure.
