This here people, is optimal size, works with all accessories and big enough for a chicken.

A small chicken. I have one. And you can't, for example, fill it with chips and expect them to be crispy.

      • Is there an airfryer that does a big basket of crispy chips?

I don't think so, I don't think air fryers do what some people claim they do. That's not to say they don't have their uses, my wife uses it to fry small amounts of crumbed chicken, cauliflower florets brushed in olive oil and salt, etc, but it requires attention and turning etc if you want a good result.

          • @DevGuy: I use an airfryer with a rotisserie cage to roast peanuts evenly, would assume it works the same for french fries and other food items that can roll around.

however for flat chips i think it'll stick to the cage and wont toss around evenly for a proper cook. might be better to dehydrate flat chips long and slow.

            • @[Deactivated]: We have cooked many batches of great tasting, crispy chips. From both frozen in a bag and made ourselves from potatoes. When you put the chip preset on it stops and beeps every 5-7 minutes or so to prompt you to shake the basket. We haven't had a batch yet that we have not found to be excellently cooked and crispy, I'm not sure what you've been doing but this totally isn't our experience.

Everything we've cooked in our XXL so far has been great - homemade schnitzel, chips, chicken breast, chicken thigh, an entire roast chicken, salmon, barramundi. It's magical.

@j1nx: Yep, same. That's the secret. To do a couple of shakes throughout the cook. Very quick and easy.

              • @j1nx: I used to do the stop and shake in a bucket style airfryer for my peanuts before and I noticed some nuts would not cook evenly (probably one of the unlucky ones that always ended up underneath or always landed on the same side).

so you end up having to over cook everything just to make sure everything gets time underneath the heating element.

with the new Airfryer the heating element is both top and bottom and the constant rotation from the rotisserie guarantees an even cook throughout.

      • Yes you can - just buy a $20 rack from Amazon. Spread chips evenly across bottom and rack, and boom, crispy chips.
This thing makes the most amazing small roast chicken (around 1.2kg), enough for 2 people. I don't know if I can go back to roasting in the oven, lol.

        • That's still not a lot of chips, but if you are cooking for just two or three I suppose it's more than enough. You also need to turn hem if you want them reasonably crispy.

          • @DevGuy: Yes well let's be fair here, air fryers are kinda suited to two or three people rather than a large family. For a large family you'd just use the oven or a larger convection over anyway.

The XXL reminds you to shake the basket every 5-7 mins or so to ensure they come out crispy, if you use the chip preset.

i had one and it was very noisy (you have been warned) the smart senser is not that smart were undercooked compared to using the directions from the frozen chip packet. After 6 months fan and coil where filthy and cannot clean. I threw away and replaced with a $99 one and much more quiet.

  • Thanks! I missed the $370 amazon sale before and had this on wish list :)
