Great little speedy USBC SSD drive.

Lowest current price (though has been cheaper @ $328) not too much more per Tb than the recent 2Tb deal so may be more useful for some.

I think the 2TB shield for $163 (2 for $326) C&C/eBay plus free shipping at Binglee eBay is the cheapest per TB I've seen so far for the T7 shield.

I dunno though I am not a storage maniac. maybe single 4TB is useful as heck to someone.

Agreed that deal is better per Tb but I’m hitting the limits of my current 2Tb model so looking into the 4Tb ones.

      • 2TB is the new 1TB
        4TB is the new 2TB

  • Kiaraso post this deal, report around the net suggest the Crucial is at least equal if not better than the T7.

    • Oh nice thanks for this under the magic $300 mark!

I think the Crucial is QLC, and the samsung is TLC

      • +2

Samsung uses top notch TLC and DRAM.

QLC uses inferior QLC and no DRAM - you will notice a difference.

    • Forget to ask, any active Amazon gift card deal / tricks?

        • Yeah I saw that but didn't people have issue with payment and also Amazon GC no longer have discount?

          • @syswong: Not sure how it is now. Saturday I bought $359 worth of credit and used it to buy an Amazon card. It was instant as well for me.

            • @GJT: Thanks for your reply…

For $13 saving and risk getting an unstable GC, I think I will just get the Amazon GC from CR.

I swear I saw somewhere with members benefit of 5% off Amazon GC. Can’t find that anymore🤔🤔

@syswong: That's true. Have a look through this list and see if you have any

                • @GJT: You are legend 🙏🙏

GU health is under NIB so look at rewards in the app… bingle 4%!! That is pretty good given how stingy Amazon is🤣🤣

                  • @syswong: Happy to hear it helped out. The true legends are the people who made that page for us mortals XD

I own 10x 4TB Samsung T7 SSDs and 4x Crucial X8 SSDs. 2 of my Crucial X8 SSDs continually error when using them on my MacBook. I use the Samsung drives on-location to backup video content. Would never buy the Crucial drives again.

      • Shouldn't you be using a thunderbolt enclosure with a NVME drive for this kind of work?

        • It's far easier to just add the drives to the client's invoice than trying to explain why I'm billing them for multiple items. Simplicity is key sometimes!

      • so, you don't rate the Crucial X8 [CT4000X8SSD9]
when the 4TB is priced at $262 ?

          Buz1986's point being
          1) Data reliability is more important than price tag and
          2) He don't have to worry about price cos in his case, work is paying for it (them).

Reports on internet between Crucial X8, Samsung T7 and Sandisk Extreme (the most popular three) are mixed. I strongly suspect that in everyday use it will be hard to see a big diff. I do think Samsung has the better reputation out of the three. You should make your own judgement on which one is best for you.

In my case i am buying it for data backup and consolidation so I decided to go with Buz1986's suggestion. I did get a little discount from buying Amazon GC from GU Health(NIB). Shame the staff 10% discount does not apply to this item as I know people with staff account😭😭😭.

        • +2

Personally I won’t be buying X8 drives again. Reliability trumps price 100% of the time imo.

          • +1

@Buz1986: I agree with that sentiment,
            especially when it's to do
with the way SSDs tend to fail.
