Product description
Special edition double vinyl LP. The week this debut album came out, Kanye's name was all over the Top 20s for his hit singles "Through the Wire," "Jesus Walks," "All Falls Down" and "Slow Jamz." What's even more remarkable is that this breakthrough came during his recovery from a car wreck that nearly took his life-the song "Through the Wire" is about the accident, and was recorded two weeks after he was in the hospital, with his jaw still wired shut. He's hailed the event as both the worst thing that could've happened to him, and the best. The record sold 441,000 copies in it's very first week and has been named both by "Time" and "Rolling Stone" as one of the greatest albums of all time. Guest appearances here include Jay-Z, John Legend, Ervin "EP" Pope, Miri Ben-Ari, Syleena Johnson and Jamie Foxx.

Yeah bought as it is a masterpiece album- edited actually cancelled order it seems the pressing is pretty bad/mixed reviews on major skipping

        • +1

          thanks, saved me $56

        • Shame as this seems an issue on plenty of prints. I'm with you though not much point if it doesn't sound good!

          • +1

@drprox: Hey just an update: the vinyl arrived today. Played flawlessly without any track skipping whatsoever.

        • +2

Sounds like with more premium turntable the skipping issues seemed to be lessened. But yeah pressing process if farked by the sound of it.

          Still gonna grab one.

Been as low as $19.19. ~$50 prob average over the last 4 years on Amazon.

Sale of one LP would be enough to buy the small amount of clothes that his wife requires.

imagine malding that hard you need to lie about something like that.

      • -5

        Are you okay?

        • you're the one making up lies on the internet for no reason, you clearly aren't alright.

Rosebank you need to have the vocal goddess in your collection.. I don't have a vinyl record player but this would probably be the first one I get

    • +2

I already have a few Whitney records

    • +2

For all the Mavericks out there … maybe add the Kanye produced Pusha T's 'Daytona' for continuity sake

      https://houseofvinyl.com.au/shop/pusha-t-%E2%80%8E-daytona/

      • +1

I read that Ye paid 60k for the cover for DAYTONA; I have it on vinyl and cassette.

        • $85k I thought .. after his rant against Trailer Grift in favour of black women's artistry (ie.Beyonce) wonder what Ye was seeking to prove by backing the bus back over Nippy

          • @Wally: More reasons why Kanye irritates me.
It's like beating someone when they are down.
I watched that Whitney movie released last year "I wanna dance with somebody" it just makes me sad how the make figures in her life destroyed her and her career. Someone of her vocal calibre will probably never be seen again..
One of my biggest regrets is never having the opportunity to see her live in concert.

            • +1

@maverickjohn: Well,, the first time she had 'voice issues' was in Australia during the Greatest Love tour .. cancelling all Brisbane & 1 Melbourne concerts

Interesting that Kanye only gained traction after producing 'Lucifer' for Jay Z on the Black album, innit!? 🙂

              • +1

@Wally: Yeah that was at her lowest career wise as it was at the peak of her drug issues/rehab. I would have traveled to the US during her prime (early 90s) but I was still in primary school lol

Anyone have any nazi memorabilia they also want to list?

Perhaps you could do that and finally contribute to the website that you've been a member of since 2014.

    • I'm with you on this, Kanye should be ostracized, but seems most people here don't want to give up listening to his music and so get angry when you call it out 🤷

      • +3

Stop trying to police other people's listening habits. I'm sure all the artists you consume are model citizens.

        • Supporting a Nazi is so Australia 2024.

          • @velcrochicken: Hope he moves on from this after his apology, can't defend his countless controversies anymore. Just hoping the new music is good and separate from all the noise

    • I've got an original Hitler to list

I remember on the Rove show when Rove butchered his name, called him Kane.

Was quickly corrected by Kanye, and I just thought what kind of a douche name is that. Made some good music though

    • Can't even find that on youtube thats how shit rove was. Sounds cringey though so I wanted to see it.

    • What kind of a douche name is Rove?

    • Take record out, and put a clock mechanism in it :-P

It'll still be on the wall ;-)

    • What does that even mean?

      • Epstein moment

      • +1

Clearly a reference to Kanye's constant stream of antisemitic comments over the past decade. He's been promoting antisemitic conspiracies since 2013.

However, this album predates all that by the best part of a decade, so it's a bit much to tar it with the same brush.

    • By the way, I didn't neg you.

  • -3

This would be the perfect first Kanye album for me. Because its on vinyl, and I don't have a record player, so I'd never have to listen to it.

  • 87.54 now, ah well…I don't think this is his best album anyways

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Graduation probably my favourite, but graduation never had a vinyl version.

  • Never listened to his stuff. Can anyone recommend some tracks?

  • +4

I miss the old Kanye, straight from the 'Go Kanye
Chop up the soul Kanye, set on his goals Kanye
