  • Damn I got "Buying is disabled for this product
    Out of stock"

  • +2

I'd jump on the 12600kf if I could

    • +52

      You'd probably void the warranty

  • Just ordered one for click and collect at Sunshine and paid with PayPal (hate copping the surcharge but worth it for this deal!)

Let's see if it gets honoured…

Only a few stores available. TBH even the 12600K at 250 is still pretty good. iGPU helps with video editing too.

  • Literally just paid $270 for this…..

  • Wow I got this for $365 back in 2022 Nov. That's a pretty fast drop.

  • Only Bendigo and Adelaide now

dafaq why pay this money for peasant 6 core

    5700x is around $200
    itx b550 for $130

    • It's a 10 core

    • Maybe you should post these deals?

    • +4

      Where is this itx b550 for $130 ?? :)

      • aliexpress has the 5700x and onda itx
you might get a bag of burritos tho so be careful DYOR

forgot to get an itx psu so now running without a case, use screw to short computer on etc, thug life

join the 8 core master race

      • Onda sells a b550i board on aliexpress for about 75 USD and there's a deal on aliexpress for a 5700X for about $115 USD at the moment, I assume that's what he's referring to.

Surprised 12600KF price drop hasn't trickled onto our market already, there's a 15 USD difference between the 12600KF and the 5600 in the states, makes Intel a no brainer. Meanwhile we need a $100 coupon for it to get anywhere near the 5600 pricing here.

    • Looks like the 5600 is just abnormally cheap in Aus. Most US stores are selling it for $150US which is about $253AU in GST.

Holy crap I keep getting surprised at how far CPU's have come. This absolutely shits over my 6700k (CPU Mark score 8936 vs 27409) and half the price I paid.

    • Competition form AMD is good..

  • Let’s roll the dice… again!

  • Cheap bang per buck but TDP 150w must run pretty hot/loud and need good cooling heatsink fan compared to similar performance CPUs?

    • Thermalright Peerless Assassin/Phantom Spirit is ~$55 on Amazon, its not too bad. VRM on the board is usually the sore point, but LGA1700 board prices has gone down a lot and you can get a good B660/B760/Z690/Z790 board with a good power section for similar price to AM4 as well.

  • Be interested if on a suitable mobo and all guaranteed A1 .

  • Damn 404 not found now…
Was interested because my $95 itx LGA1700 mobo just arrived from ali express yesterday… would have been an epic cheap CPU to pair with that budget itx mobo

  • Can anyone recommend a good mobo for this?

I looked online thinking DDR5 all the way, but apparently DDR4 is the way to go with this?

Alder Lake (12th gen and 13th/14th gen under the 13600K/14600K) don't scale well off RAM, and what makes the 12600KF competitive currently over the Ryzen 7600(X) is its ability to use dirt cheap 3200CL16 DDR4 RAM to get roughly the same gaming performance for less money, which you can then use on the GPU. If you're going to go DDR5 you might as well get a 7600 for another $30 and be on a platform with an upgrade path rather than a dead end one (even cheaper if you cop the 7500F from Aliexpress instead).

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/K8ytt6/gigabyte-z690m-ao… - Cheapest Z690 board on the Australian market currently, VRM and feature set looks good.

      • Would the additional $50 make it worth going with the Z690 Pro?

        https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/motherboards/intel-socke…

        • Not unless you need any of the features it provides that the other board doesn't right now (and not in a maybe I'll need it someday sense). 12600KF is already shaky in value in Australia because of how cheap we have the 5600 here. $250 is like AM5-level price for a board.

          • @BROKENKEYBOARD: Thank you for the suggestions. Would a 4070 be overkill for this CPU+B660 setup?

            • @sh4hp: Its fine, its a good combination for 1080p. On 1440p you can and should skimp on the CPU and spend more on the GPU.

I wouldn't get a B660 though, you lose out on all of the overclocking feature, including power limit tweaking. Being able to set a sane power limit for Intel 12th/13th/14th gen increase its power efficiency a lot while losing a very marginal amount of performance, CPU nowadays are all effectively overclocked at stock to cheese benchmark, and they lose very little performance when reigning it in (AMD is similar, and the 7800X3D is such a power efficient CPU because it effectively has a permanent eco mode activated). I'd sooner pay the $50 aesthetic tax for the ATX Z690 if you really want the "full board" look, rather than save $50 now on an ATX B660 and end up paying it back later anyway through the power bill, while dealing with more heat and a louder PC due to fans.

              • @[Deactivated]: Thanks for the clarification.

So 1440p gaming would then require a higher GPU, like the 4080/4090?

So the Z690 is a more power efficient board compared to a B660, although they are both full sized?

                • @sh4hp: B660/Z690 are chipsets. Z690 is the high end enthusiast one with overclocking features unlocked, so you can manually tune the power limit of the CPU.

With resolution, you can always turn settings down or make use of DLSS. But in general, the 4070 is not considered a 1440p class card

                  • @[Deactivated]: I see. Makes sense. Didn't even realise the added 360 resolution was a whole different class. Like 4K I understand due to the 4x1080p.

Definitely need to read more into it now.

                    • @sh4hp: Well its 1.78x more pixels to render, that's why its also used interchangeably with 2K

  • Probably get a cancellation. I got one last time I Pre Ordered a CPU.
