  For those into aquiriums (I was when I was 12 so I know a bit) 16L is tiny! And it is much harder usually to take care about a small tank compared to a big one. Beginners, if they plan to make it last a bit and not throw it away in a couple of months, would be much better off with a 75-100L tank, which is still considered small. And if you have some experience you will know what you want.

      First time fish owner. I was sold a tank twice this size at Christmas and a couple of goldfish - 4 months later, I've spent something like a trillion dollars upgrading everything to accommodate the goldfish after one got sick.

        Goldfish are filthy, generally twice the waste/size required of any other fish. Even with that 32L tank (which is still tiny)… that's only space for one decent goldfish. For four? You should be rocking 100L+ with a decent scape/filter setup.

          @TogTogTogTog: It would have been nice if the aquarium shop gave me that advice.

          I'm now up to a 130l tank, fluval 407 cannister filter, uvc in-line clarifier and weekly 30% water changes.

          I've also replaced gravel with sand and a variety of plants I have to look after…..

              @Ryanek: 30 mins to 1 hour maintenance every 7 to 10 days for freshwater aquariums . Pretty manageable.

            @prodrome: Algal bloom is often caused by running the lights for to long each day. Just leave them off for a few days and limit to running less each day on a timer and see.

            @prodrome: @prodrome Yeah, I wouldn't be going back.

            That's a nice setup! Waaaaay too nice for goldfish lol. Frankly… I'd dump the goldfish in an outdoor pond and 'respec' your fish. Goldfish will eat your plants, mess up your tank and generally be assholes. An outdoor pond with a couple plants and a $20 solar 'pump' is more than enough.

            Meanwhile, you have what sounds like a dope setup. The 407 is overkill, clarifier is only needed if your water looks shit otherwise keep it off and weekly changes is too much. Remove goldfish, plant/scape tank, buy cheap shrimps and snails, grow-in for a couple weeks.

            Then get whatever you like, maybe some catfish/corydoras to sift through your gravel, some nice schooling fish, something that you like (ghost knife for me), build an ecosystem basically :)

    There are plenty of slightly used aquariums for those on a budget from people who didn’t know what they were biting off when they bought it.

    Unless you’re using it for a spawn tank or to keep a single fish (or some tetras) it’s too small for practicality.

    Not to mention it’d exacerbated by the fact that it’s like a single process internal sponge filter without the chemical (charcoal) or bio filtering (ceramic noodles) most other systems would have.

    Yep, this is suitable for 1 betta (though I prefer 20L minimum) or some shrimp / snails only really.

  Has anyone received their aquarium? Mine arrived today, but it was a Dynamic Power brand hobby spray paint booth of similar but different dimensions. I contacted Amazon and they are sending a replacement. Maybe an honest mistake I guess but this seems to be scammy.

    I have received my aquarium without any issue. It definitely sounds like a mistake on amazon's part.
