Telstra Network Based Sim For Backup?

Optus has been sketchy for me lately, in my area… My phone can take two sims, so I was looking for a backup one.. it would not need a lot of data just enough to get through the patches here and there where Optus suddenly has no reception.

Ideally the limited data would rollover but hey it's not essential.

Any good deals at the moment on providers using the Telstra network for such a purpose?

Since it's a backup I'm hoping not to spend too much.

Thanks :)

  • Is it worth porting your number to boost so then you don't have two phone plans - optus and telstra/boost.

    • True, but I'm my situation I've built up almost 1.5 tb of data banking on the Optus network…..

  • aldi mobile. you can buy a sim for $5 and you get $5 payg credit. then top up $15 payg credit and you have 365 days to use the credit. It can be expensive to make calls but you can test the network. You can add on a 1 month call plan if you like anytime

woolies mobil. you can buy the long expiry sim. you can get 10% off a woolies shop every month if you sign up for thier rewards program for free. so if you do 1 big shop a month you can get upto $50 a month off making it free effectively.
