Unsure How to Connect Enterprise SATA HDD to Laptop

Hi all, I've bought a refurbished 'seagate exos x16 16tb enterprise sata hdd' and attempted to connect a simple usb adaptor to my laptop. It didn't work like it usually does with my 2.5 inch ones so upon a bit of googling it seemed the issue was insufficient power supply. The sata hdd made some noise and seemed to spin but the laptop only recognized 'usb x', and not the drive itself.

And so I bought a 'Zilkee Ultra Recovery Converter USB3.0 to SATA/IDE hard-drive cable disk adapter' from ebay, that has a 12V power cable from the adaptor to the power supply, and a usb cable from the adaptor to the computer. The adaptor of course has a connecting spot for the sata drive itself. This time the aforementioned happened (sata starts up) but nothing was recognized at all.

I see this 4 pin system seen on the first image of -https://superuser.com/questions/441817/what-is-the-purpose-of-this-4-pin-interface-on-sata-hdds-and-why-doesnt-it-exis

I am unsure if this is related to being able to connect via a usb. The adaptor I just bought does not have a connecting tool to this 4 pin, and even if it did when you connect the adaptor to the sata drive it blocks for 4 pin port.

Maybe this is an issue with the refurbished sata hdd? Or an issue with the model of my laptop (Omen 2020)?

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

edit: when it connects it makes the same sound as when you connect any device to the laptop. Just nothing is recognised.

edit 2: I tried connecting to my posterior usb port and it was finally recognized in disk management, selected GPT and just did a basic formatting. It worked :)

It looks like the right usb port and increased power supply did the trick.
