Flights to UK in September/October

Can anyone tell me why flight prices to London from the major Australian cities for September/October are still so high?

I’ve been watching air fares during the year and there have been some almost pre-Covid fares even for the European summer.

I’ve looked for September and $2000 is the cheapest I can find with a “good”airline.

Anyone have any clues where I can find some specials or does anyone have some insider knowledge as to upcoming discounts for this time of year.

I’ve previously flown the route with many airlines but am surprised that this shoulder season is still so highly priced.

  • Let me just get my magic ball out and I'll get back to you.

  • School holidays

Easy to see the cheapest month then select the cheapest days with Skyscanner

  • First two weeks of October is NSW school holidays.
That said, we booked flights to Europe with Singapore 6 weeks ago for $2000 each, but if you can wait till after school goes back it will be cheaper.

    • I know of a few affluent families who do Europe in the mid-year break, but I think the ones who head over for the shorter spring school hols may be travelling in their own aircraft.

    From Brisbane to London

China Southern from early October $1300 upwards

Eva air from Mid september $1500 upwrads.

    • Guessing op doesn't consider them good airlines.

      • They're objectively not??

        • Never flown China Southern so can't comment on them, but I flew EVA Air last month and they have an excellent product, even in economy. Full service airline, decent leg room, two full meals on an 8hr flight (for comparison SIA only does one on the same length flights), attentive and helpful staff etc. the only downside was the IFE had a limited selection of shows and movies. Other than that I could not complain about anything and would defintely use them again as well as recommend them to anyone.

  • Not betting prices after September.

  • have you looked at turkish airlines? they have decent service and prices
