Looks like my Akai 45L Portable Fridge Freezer has stopped cooling after just shy of 12 months.
I am going to look at doing a return for it and will require a replacement. What is everyone got in the 45L/50L range?
I saw the Brass Monkey 50L is on special. Alternatively may be a 50L Kings.
Don't want to break the bank and using it as more of a Fridge than a Freezer at the moment.
The Akai should still be under warranty??
Yeah it is. But it is a clearance item at Supercheap, so stock is limited.
Best fridge I've used was a Waeco (owned by BIL who lent it to me for a while).

I don't really use a fridge to much but I have a Kings (but it has a secop compressor - apparently they're good or so BIL told me and I was too lazy to look any of this up). Been two years and I've been happy with mine.

Picked up a 73 litre dual zone one from Aldi on the weekend, on clearance for $449, it has a 3 year warranty, haven't used it as yet though, so cannot attest to the quality.
But it did come with a transit bag as well.
I'll have to have a look at my local Aldi. But I don't think anything bigger than a 45L/50L will fit in my canopy space.

Check out the Kings staycoolz range as has the better compressor and 5 year warranty vs 2 year warranty on the escape range and I believe better built
Don't mind the brass monkey range either, got the oztrail 45L on sale at anaconda might have an LG compressor but could be wrong

I'm on my second portable fridge:
1) Brass Monkey (? or maybe a generic version of the same thing?) 50L with an built-in 8ah backup battery - works ok, but because it's a tall esky type design it's easy to block the airflow to the items at the top, leaving them to get a bit warmer than I prefer. With a built in inverter it did well off-grid - solar panels hooked up directly to it and the small backup battery kept it running when they weren't generating enough. Not enough juice to power it over night though.
Replaced it recently with an:
2) Aldi 73L dual compartment fridge/freezer. Probably overkill for your use case; but seems stable and reliable for me so far. Seeing it on clearance at $250 sealed the deal for me.
If you're using it more frequently (as a second fridge?), I'd buy a bigger one to be honest. The little ones simply aren't designed to be plugged in 24/7 - but can be great for the odd week of camping here and there.

Dropped into my Local Aldi last night, they didn't have any. I would've picked one up if the price was right.

Not really using it as a second fridge. Its for day trips out and about. I can get a 60L Kings in my canopy space, anything bigger I wouldn't be able to fit. I looked at the 75L but its 200mm too long for my space.
Wasnt that long ago that you only had a couple of choices and they were pretty pricey. Now theres heaps of brands at bidget prices.
Depends on your usage case. If youre going outback in summer and keep your food in it buy a good one - Dometic (was waeco), Engell etc. If its just for drinks around town some of the other ones me tioned will probably do the job fine but be less efficient.
Tossing up between this Brass Monkey or this King's at the moment.
A cover would be nice, but no essential.
