    Not sure if boycott?

    • -2

Was this your attempt to make a funny based off the brand name?

      • +1

        Yes

        • -3

I mean that's not a good look, particularly given your comment history.

          • @DogGunn: I mean, even you - who was willing to scrape through pages of comments, only to find stuff about highlighting a genocide -recognised it was a joke

            • @Soldier: I mean it shows your prejudice and shows your cannot distinguish between those committing a genocide and those that are not. Joke or not, as I said, not a good look.

              • +1

@DogGunn: You’ve read my comments, you saw that I’ve distinguished between those that have hijacked a religion for their own desires and those that are not supporters of such a thing

Bottom line. It was a joke. And it’s another strange name from the company-name-generator machine that we often see here on ozb. Look at my comments, I’ve often poked fun at unusual company names.

Im not going to boycott a company making Ethernet cables. It was meant to be such a stretch away from achieving an actual boycott that gave it the humour. Sorry I have to explain life to you.

                • @Soldier: So essentially you'd be okay if someone said boycott Muslims as a joke?

                  • +1

@DogGunn: The thing is, I never said “boycott Jews” did I?

Let me break it down for you.
(Most of) the world is appalled at what is happening to the people of Gaza, as a result, there has a been a movement to financially boycott and divest companies that actively support zionism and the apartheid against the Palestinian people.

What I said was “not sure if boycott”, never said “let’s boycott Jews”. And what I said can never even be taken indirectly as “let’s boycott Jews” since a) it was clearly pointing attention to the company name, b) there is no evidence that the company supports zionism

Here’s a reference to one of the layers of the joke:
                    https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/futurama-fry-not-sure-if

You want to substitute a word in a sentence that I never said to make a point.

You can’t even expect someone to say “boycott muslims” since there is no active boycott against a muslim equivalent of zionism is there? There IS a massive PR machine to normalise the zionist movement and their tyranny.

Imagine being so entitled you get offended about a joke that was clearly going no where, more than 15,000 kids being slaughtered at the hands of a “moral army”.

Oh, and I don’t need to wait for someone to say “boycott muslims” to be offended, the world leaders boycotted the people of Gaza for decades from healthcare and freedom. That’s much more extreme than a financial divestment.

                    • -1

@Soldier: That was a word salad of a reply - quite incoherent, and one that very clearly incorrectly assumes my opinion on the topic of the current conflict.

And you didn't say "Boycott Jews" but it was the joke was it not (Futurama meme or not)?

Notwithstanding your earlier reply, in your most recent reply you immediately conflated Zionism and Jews despite claiming to avoid that.
As you say: not sure if serious.

                      • @DogGunn: Where did I join zionism with Jews?

                        • @Soldier: "Not sure if boycott?" in reference to a name of the company which sounds similar to the Arabic word for Jews.

Now why would we make a boycott joke about the company name?

                          • @DogGunn: can you define zionism?

                            • @Soldier: I want you to answer the other question first - if the joke was that the company name sounds like "Jews", and you were "not sure if boycott" - have you just conflated your issue with Zionists and Jews?

                              • @DogGunn: But the company name isn’t “Jews” is it? It merely shares some letters.

Its not that I won’t say what you are trying to get me to say, it’s that I genuinely believe there is no room for zionism in the Jewish faith. I’m fact, many Jews are opposed to the zionism idea.

zionism has is the secularist arm that claims to be God’s chosen people, but yet acts in no holy manner.

zionism claims the Jewish identity, and that’s why I referenced the boycott movement.

Because the boycott is for zionism, and zionism claims to be Jewish.

I genuinely did not expect anyone to pick up on the joke at all. And in retrospect it would be better in future to not leave a door open for people to quickly use it as a tactic to become the victim.
Or for people who might not yet understand the issue fully to draw an incorrect direct association that Jewish = zionist

Cat 8? Man I’m behind on my cable tech

    • +2

I wasnt even aware there was Cat 7… big old man hugs

      • Fight club style

    • +1

      It’s not an official grading

      • +3

It's very official and very much the successor to 6a. Quite niche usage tho needing 40Gbps throughput.

      • +1

Cat8 is an official grading. 40Gbps, at 2000 MHz up to 30-36m depending on cable used.

There's 2 classes to the standard.
        - Class I (or Cat8.1) requiring only U/FTP or F/UTP, using RJ45.
        - Class II (or Cat8.2) requiring f/FTP or S/FTP at minimum. These use TERA/GG45, same as Cat7.

40Gbps using RJ45, or without SF/FTP is another world of complications….

    • What about other tech?
      3G 4G -> 5G -> 6G ?

      WiFi7 ?

      Android 15 (Beta) ?

      LED, OLED, 4K, 8K, … ?

    • Cat 8? Man I’m behind
