Does Anyone Have This Bunk Bed? Need Some Opinions Please!

Hey guys,

Looking to buy a bunk bed for a 5 year old and a 4 year old.
Besides for obviously being safe, we'd like it to be lower down, so its easy to change bedding etc.

We've come across this from Temple & Webster which looks pretty decent, but now we're wondering realistially how many years we'd get out of it, due to it being so low.

Anyone have this, or can give some advice? Happy to look at other options, but don't really want to spend more than $1000 max.

Also, as far as matresses go, has anyone bought Zeek? Specifically the 15cm bunk mattress

TIA

Yikes that looks really scary for the bottom bunk kid!

    • Lol, ye it does look bit low, but reviews indicate that its fine… just not sure how long kids will last as they get older and taller

  • We were testing out the idea of bunk beds, we’ve got one where they’re staggered rather than stacked, if that makes sense.
Recommend you check out marketplace esp if you don’t know how the kids will go in it, we didn’t want to spend $1100 and then have the kids hate it or it to not work

    • "check out marketplace" yes, might even find a give away
      .

  • AIYAHHHHH

We tried bunk beds for our two boys.
They loved the idea of playing there (making forts etc) during the day but absolutely refused to sleep(even nap) in it.

Unless you are super short on space I think any other arrangement is better.

That temple and Webster one… jeez idk hey, you’ll probably wanna really make sure you slap the side of the bed as you tighten up the holding screws and loudly declare ‘yep she ain’t goin nowhere’ in your most dad tone possible

  • Recently got a bunk bed for our little ones. For longevity, you need it to be made with quality material. Kids aren't 'easy' on beds - they'll jump around, get up on the top bunk with friends, etc etc. Most of the MDF/Chipboard bunks just won't stand up to that kind of weight/abuse over the longer term. The one you've linked to has a max weight of 80kg on each bunk - so depending on your build, you might not even be able to lie in bed reading to the kids; and both kids jumping around on one bed will be dicey.

We landed on a hardwood one from Fantastic Furniture. It's really sturdy - but as you've called out, it can be a little awkward changing the top sheets because of the height.

Give them the true Aussie suburban experience and get them a tube bunk bed

Always had a tube bunk bed in the house growing that would go between me and my siblings. Rarely used it to share a bedroom, was mostly used as a climbing fort and for sleepovers.
