Paid Lounge Access Options (ADL and SYD)?

My parents flight on AirNZ just got cancelled.

They have been swapped to Qantas, but now have a 3hr delay in ADL and 5hrs in SYD.

Been given a $90 "Airport wide credit"? Just says anywhere in the airport…doesn't say which airport. So assume ADL or SYD.

Any decent lounges they could buy themselves into?

Alternatively, I've got citi, HSBC and Westpac card with some form of lounge access. Can I send them a screenshot etc for access (guessing no one checks the actual card anymore)?

Will be clearing customs in SYD.

Cheers all

  • Try Plaza Premium lounge in Sydney T1 international

    • Cheers ..the Plaza Premium in ADL closes at 11:30am…. Lol..

      • They could only access the Plaza Premium in Adelaide if theyre on an international departure not domestic.

        • For future..Is it airside?

They were flying to US (but via SYD)

          • @tunzafun001: Yes, it is airside, right after immigration and customs.

    • @tunzafun001 I would recommend that you be very cautious about the Plaza Premium lounge in Sydney.
I have heard through multiple people that it is the smallest lounge with not enough food or staff. Tables do not get cleared, food does not get replenished, and they sell entry passes even when they are at capacity!. It is not something I would want my parents to experience.

Reading google reviews reveals the same - though it does look like they are buying 5 star google reviews as a number of 5-star reviews all come through at the same time. Seems very suspicious.

      • Pretty sure they share a toilet with another lounge .. did a switcheroo multiple times a few years back. Exactly the same, but less crowd.

  • How about the lounge at Coopers Alehouse, $90 will get you few rounds of beer.

    • That was the default!
      Probably 2 pints…haha!

Wash it down with that sweet feeling that you will now meet none of your later connections…

Been given a $90 "Airport wide credit"?

That should get them a coffee each.

  • 3 hrs in Adelaide isnt worth lounge access. Penfolds has a bar if they like wine. Otherwise, Coopers or any number of food outlets to choose from. They can stop past the Vickers Vimy museum if really bored.

    • On way to Sydney now .. trying to work out how to send them one of my lounge key or priority pass entries.

      • Wouldn’t the card holder need to be present for guest entries?

        • All digital cards these days….I hope.

I have used the House lounge in Sydney airport a few times before.

As with any lounge, the experience is better the emptier it is.
The breakfast food options are standard (think scrambled eggs, sausages, pastries etc).
The daytime menu is a letdown to be honest, they had a beef curry (that wasn't very good) and a pasta as the hot dish choices when I visited during lunchtime. Both were pretty flavourless - probably bulk made and frozen/reheated when needed.
There is a tended bar which was good and the bartender was friendly.

There is also a shower room available which is a nice touch - first come first served so don't rely on it being available.

  • Maybe access a lounge in the international SYD terminal for a shower before the flight? Food in lounges is overrated. I guess it's worth it if you want to drink a bunch.
