Changes to Shipping Computers Interstate?

So my company has to sometimes ship laptops or PC's interstate…. Word from our courier company is there are recent changes to freight anything with a battery.. ?

He told me that due to recent updates from airports any goods contain batteries will be classified as dangerous goods.
From Melbourne will take 2-3days to NSW, 4-5 to Queensland and 5-6 for Perth or longer due to flood in that area

So how will this affect passengers taking laptops on flights.. if it wont - whats the difference in a laptop by courier/freight and a passenger taking a lappy on a flight?

Thoughts?

You can monitor a laptop/tablet/phone much easier in the cabin than in the cargo area.

  • Speak to another courier. It might have to be shipped with the battery disconnected / out.

StarTrack ship Metabox laptops. Had a laptop from Perth to VIC overnight.

Always been limits on batteries in 'checked in' luggage. Freight is basically checked in luggage.
