Wi-Fi Anemometer (Wind Speed Meter)

HI, I am having outdoor blinds installed and looking for a decent wifi wind meter that has a notification alarm if the wind exceeds a predetermined speed. I need it to work while I am away from the home too so I can get someone to raise the blinds in bad weather.

Anyone have experience with anything similar?

My Ecowitt WS1900c weather station has alerts for wind speed, it was about $120 on here a year or so ago.

    • great, thanks

Playing around with it, you can send email alerts to up to 3 addresses, and you can select if you want multiple alerts every time the condition is met, or just one in a period (and the period can be 5mins, 30mins, 1 hour, 4 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours).
You can also set it to alert on just a gust, or the sustained wind speed.

It would be pretty cool if you motorised the blinds and used the wind meter as a trigger!

Some blinds come with this as standard….. There own wind meter and wind in by themselves.

      • Yeah pretty surprised it's not included with installation of a whole-house system

My blinds are internal (unlike OP's external) and I've set them to go down halfway based on time in the morning to stop glare when I work from home and then automatically raise at sunset so for the evening view.

Still one of my favourite novelties at home!

My external retractable awning had an anemometer controller that automatically acted on set wind speed.
