Pairs well with the The Hobbit & The Lord of The Rings Boxed Set [Illustrated Edition]

First in a series of hardback boxed sets celebrating the literary achievement of Christopher Tolkien, featuring double-sided dustjackets. Set 1 contains special editions of THE SILMARILLION and UNFINISHED TALES reproducing the first edition text, together with the two volumes of THE BOOK OF LOST TALES.

Published together for the first time, these four books collect the beginning of Christopher Tolkien’s forty-year career devoted to presenting his father J.R.R. Tolkien’s writings on Middle-earth, a unique accomplishment that celebrates the greatest invented world in all of fantasy literature.

  • Just curious about showing price history since Nov 2023 on Camel x3 while the books were only released in April. Does that including pre sale?

    The Silmarillion is brilliant.

I agree, but it is a tough read. Took me a couple of attempts to get through it. You know this is an epic story when the war of the rings make up only a tiny part of the bigger story.

I suspect JRR was interested in creating a detailed fantasy universe and weaved the stories from all the background he created. His appendices were extensive and detailed. He wanted people to understand what were the circumstances that lead to the current state of Middle Earth when the Hobbit and The lord of the Rings were set. The Silmarillion is a beautiful origin story for the creation of the Universe and the corruption, and disharmony, of evil. I suspect this set is a bit “show your workings out”.

any way we can send this to Amazon reps? so that they can actually read the story ?

  • Hard to justify the purchase when I've already got the illustrated editions of the Unfinished Tales and Silmarillion
