Hungry Jack's - Nationwide $2 Whoppers for PokitPal Users

1600

This appears to be a fairly new offer available within the PokitPal app. To redeem the offer you will have to download the PokitPal app from Google Play or the Apple App Store, register an account (free) then show the voucher on your screen to the person at the cashier.

NOTE: This app is primarily aimed at university students, however registering an account on the app doesn't require any university details, any email address will do. I've never had any issues redeeming offers from before though, so hopefully Hungry Jack's will be the same. Seems like so long as you have the app and can show them the voucher on your phone then that will be sufficient.

Offer is valid until 8th April, 2013. Enjoy!

What a great app! First time i've seen one of these coupon apps have a decent offer. Thanks, TheAviator1992!

    • you're most welcome!

      • +2

I have a galaxy samsung with android and it says that downloading this pokitpal is not campadible, so much hassle for $2 whoppers is that really fair for consumers.

        • +3

Just get someone to take a screen shot and MMS/email you the picture.

  • +1

Just had a look at some of the other deals

    • +1

yep, there are quite a few other offers available in the app, good to have a browse and see what other discounts might be of interest :)

    • +17

Did you go to jail for buying two whoppers?

      • +48

No, he went for using zero punctuation.

      • +14

The Whopper is his cell mates name

        • +16

Yes snappy1234, that was the joke.

        • -2

          Thanks lol !

    • +1

lol serious? how did the cops respond?

      • +8

        they bought some for themselves..

time to Buy a Smartphone… will pay for itself

        • +1

Yep.. Paid off my galaxy tab with fake gps + shake n win before they changed it..

        • +4

But money saved on the tab goes to the hospital for chronic cholesterol problems :)

        • What did they change?

    • +33

Probably had nothing to do with the whoppers, probably had something to do with you punks acting like a bunch of turds like most teenagers who think they're top stuff when really everyone is thinking "what tossers".

  • Looks like a great app! Thanks

  • I cant seem to find any other deals, only 3 that are local to my area.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just take a screen shot of the voucher and you are good to go .

I notice the app shows all HJ stores but I believe only those stores that support the usual HJ vouchers will support this mobile voucher. Please correct me if I am wrong.

    • If you go to the map part of the app, I believe it shows all the participating stores. Had a look and all the stores I might usually visit were listed on the map.

As opposed to, say, the McDonald's promotion in the app, where only a handful of stores were listed

      • The voucher itself says available at participating stores. The map shows the HJ at Rowville (Melbourne) but they never accept the usual HJ coupons.

        • +2

          Voucher working in Rowville!

        • +1

Thanks, will give it a try.

  • +5

Something tells me this is going to be the typical, go to the cashier tell her you have a voucher to get the whopper for $2 and she gives you a blank look and has no idea about the promotion…

Also anyone know if you can get this with cheese? For me it's the only way to go with a whopper :)?

    • +2

I have used this a number of times.
You actually have to call for the manager, and state that you want a "Pokitpal $2 Whopper".
The managers know about the promo, but the cashiers do not.

  • +1

    What an awesome app!

Thanks but I'll pass on installing the app.

Couldn't you just save this whopper deal as a jpg
and show it on your mobile screen ?

(or am i missing something ?)

      • +17

Good suggestion. I installed the app, took a screenshot then uninstalled.

Jeez, could you choose a better image host next time? I got half naked men and women displayed at the bottom of screen.
Try: http://www.imgur.com and then post a direct link to the image.

        • -1

Photos promoting weight loss - where don't you see women in bikinis these days? Perth?

        • +7

Or you could run a decent hosts file and ad-blocking software, and take control of your own PC. Much more effective than telling random people on internet forums to choose different image hosts.

        • +2

you just need more adblock plus in your life. unfortunately no 1/2 naked women on mine……

        • I'm well aware of Adblock Plus. Some of us actually work in an office (I know it's rare for Ozbargainers) and don't have the liberty to install Chrome or Firefox with the appropriate addons. And editing a Host file? Good luck trying that in a corporate environment.

        • -6

you work in an office and still using IE?

wow you need to get a job in a more modern office………..

        • +10

You think IT departments only allowing IE is rare?

wow you need to experience the real world.

        • +2

That's right, unfortunately we're locked down to IE 8. BTW, I'm quite happy where I'm working - I don't plan on resigning just because I can't install my favourite internet browser :)

        • +1

Just to clear up my comment - the photos of "naked men and women displayed at the bottom of screen" were for weight loss & the shots were of people in bathers. So I was sarcastically directing my question to jelko (from Perth) - had they not seen women in bikinis there ;)

    • +1

I saw this permission (log data one) on the play store web page, but not on the android play store app. Which one is correct??

Says the same thing when you install Skype.

      • +3

isn't that the point of Skype though?

    • +1

You are one of the few people that know they're being sold out on smartphones. Congrats. This kind of activity is rampant on so many apps; users don't know what these apps are doing behind their backs even when it's not explicitly mentioned; there is just far too much scope for apps to do anything and everything, and countless examples of apps doing exactly that.

But as long as I get cheap diabetes and/or heart disease, it's OK.

$2 whopper plus $1 large frozen coke !!!!

    • +1

Or $1.20 for a Thick Shake and then a Free Coke Refill for the road ;)

    • How can you get the $1 large frozen coke?

      • +3

        Its the regular price.

      • In my local HJ, it's $3.25 or so. Never seen that $1 regular price before.

        • +4

Frozen cokes have been $1 in every Hungry Jacks I have been to in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide since late 2012…so you are getting royally ripped off if you are still paying $3.25 (full price)

        • I did realise that the Melbourne CBD stores do not actually have the "Penny Pincher" menu.

        • And Brisbane, as far as I know (certainly @Post Office Square)

  • has anyone acutally used the app and got the whopper for $2?

  • +1

Yep just did then, got 2. It was listed in there computer system under pokitpal.

    • mitcheo, did you get two under the same phone? or did you go separately?

      • Same phone

Can we substitute it for a Veggie Whopper?
We could on all the other whopper deals.

    • -3

Out of interest, why? It still have meat in it.

      • +1

Out of interest, why? It still have meat in it.

personally i think the veggie tastes better or for the ultimate whopper get one meat and one veggie patty in the same burger.

      • +2

I'm not a vegetarian I just don't really like beef, especially in the beef burger format. Veggie Whoppers taste pretty good in my opinion, plus cheese is standard if you are in to that kind of thing (I think all fast food cheese takes like rubbish personally so I get it removed).

      • +2

rennit in the cheese isn't meat.
        most cheese has rennit anyway.
edit: and you can minus the cheese

    • +3

yes you can, it said it was possible in the terms and conditions in the app.

  • +9

Dont know if this has been posted yet but here is some new vouchers for HJs that last till 4th June 2013

      Beauty, thanks! :)

    • +1

I asked the girl if they were accepting the pokitpal coupons and as i expected she just gave me a blank look. But luckily the manager was on the till next to her and said he would sort it out in a minute.

After he had showed her where to find it i asked if i could have 2 and then used the other vouchers to buy 2 bacon deluxe burgers as well. Dinner for 2 $10.95

      Thanks OP

  • +5

They were advertising this app all around USyd's entrances today, but barely anyone bothered getting more info. Should've put up a sign for $2 whoppers instead.

  • You used to have to show your student card with Pokitpal deals. Not anymore?

  • Nice find, lunch sorted for tomorrow.

  • +4

I like the idea of the app but god the design is terrible (on android at least) images clipped here and there and cluttered and just generally awful and not very useable.

  • Sort of runs on my old phone and random sim. its awfully unoptimized. And lags like crazy. Bet their listviews arent even dynamically loaded.

Gonna see if it works on my ipod touch… If they make phone calls on it well i'd have to give them credit

  • +1

Just be prepared that some stores will ask for your uni ID, the Subway i go to used to ask me everytime until i became a regular at that store.
I've seen them ask a lot of other people too and if they don't have ID's then they have to pay full price.

    • +2

Really can they do that, nothing in the app says the offer is exclusive to uni students only.

    • +1

You've seen them refuse this PokitPal deal due to no Uni ID???
No problems at the stores I've been to. Its not a student deal.

      • +1

PokitPal is a promotion run for university students, it started out as a little credit card sized booklet that you could flash to get discounts and then they made the app, this booklet was only handed out at uni and generally at o-week

        from their website:

        What is PokitPal?
PokitPal has been delivering exceptional student discounts since 2006. Today our discounts are supplied to both students and backpackers across Australia and developing in overseas countries which include Ireland, England, Wales and New Zealand.

        • +1

Yes. Originally based in Unis, that is still its main user group, but no longer just for students. They've broadened their market to get more profits. You even quote above it is no longer just a student thing. (Backpackers are not necessarily students. I know many who left studies decades ago.)

So no ID necessary. Requirement for ID is not shown on the $2 Whopper deal screen - and thats all that a HJ employee will care about. They usually don't even know what to press for this deal. I've got the deal without getting my phone out - just asked for it - they don't care.

        • Yeah i've used the HJ deal without showing my ID too, just giving people a heads up that some places may ask for it, like my local Subway

        • Strange - this is a HJ $2 Whopper deal!

  • +1

Smart promotion. Like many on here initially going "WTH is 'PokitPal'" clearly thousands know what it is because of this and most won't bother deleting the app.

    • +1

Actually, most student's would have heard of pokitpal in some form during their uni life, without ever knowing it. Reason: The app is release under many different names, localised to individual universities.
      Full list here: http://www.pokitpal.com/content/pocket-campus-discounts

and you don't actually have to download the app, you can get it in booklet form.
      http://www.pokitpal.com/content/pokitpal-booklets

(I first used pokitpal in 2008 @ UniMelb, when it ONLY came in booklet form. The app is something new.)

      • +1

Thanks for that - the Uni apps include other features.
The printed form is now only distribited at some Unis (no longer UniMelb)
(Currently over 400,000 booklets go out annually in the following cities: Adelaide, Canberra, Newcastle,& Sydney.)

  • +1

I used the app for $2 burger today, didn't need to show uni ID.

    • as the way facebook went.. Once you let everyone in not just uni student your onto a winner, otherwise your just clouding your own horizon.

  • I used it today. Employee had never heard of it but the manager let it through. No ID required.

  • +1

Problem I found with App is it wants to update offers every time I open it. Takes 5 minutes on HJ WiFi. So I just ask for a Pokitpal $2 Whopper - much easier than opening the App.

    • this is great, provided it works… i mean the person serving might just say no (ive had this happen in carousel wa; shitty service)

      • Worked every time. Had the image posted above as backup.

  • +3

Pay with the ING Paywave debit card for a $1.90 Whopper!

  • shame this deal is over!!!
