How does it compare to sharkies?

    • Sharkies?

Assuming you didnt go to uni or worked in Sydney in your junior days https://www.maloneyhotels.com.au/sharkhotel

First pit stop for cheap drinks before anything else for the night

Throwback to Bar Century - RIP those sticky floors

          • +1

            @dumpthedummy: Lol… that GROSS sticky floor…

        • The shark hotel is more like a pub atmosphere whereas Sheraton is a luxury 5 star upmarket venue. You will get 5 star table service hence why the prices are more expensive so 50% is a pretty good deal.

No I didn't go to uni here

@Homr: Yes. I know what Sheraton is. Was being a clown.

Well, not sure why cheap drinks just reminded me of sharkies.

            • @[Deactivated]: Ah man. I loved that place. $8.50 steak on a Monday for lunch if memory serves me correctly. Can't remember Tuesday but Wednesday was $7.50 chicken schnitty.

              Thanks.

              • @b2dz: damn, that's a good deal for meals. Any places now that are in the CBD currently that offer similar price meals?

            • @[Deactivated]: Paddo RSL back in the day. 75 cent middies.
Sharkies was definitely a fun dive.

Around $8-9 I’d assume? Then to the gym around the corner to burn off the calories.

    • yeh $8-$9 will probably be the normal price for house beers / wines. So $4.5 for a beer is a good deal, better than happy hour prices in the near by bars

Seems low. A (nice) dumpling bar on George St charges $10 a schooner and $12 a pint. I'd guess and say this place is at least $12 a schooner, $14 a pint. But at 50% that's a decent deal

Obviously trying to drum up some extra business… Not sure if I'd be happy sitting in the lobby bar of a Covid quarantine hotel yet though….

Fair point, I believe a few hotels now are getting out of the quarantine program so they are having these promos to drive business
