I would advise against buying the 120ml product. Water-based, pure ascorbic acid products like this will oxidise quickly. Even on the timeless website FAQ it says:

We do advise that you store our serums in a dark, cool environment that is maintained in a good temperature as they are heat and light sensitive products. When freshly manufactured the 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid serum is cloudy and thick in appearance with slight yellowing. As the serum begins to age it starts to clear up, then begins with hints of yellowing, which is normal due to the Ferulic Acid, not the vitamin C. The serum can change back to a cloudy state when refrigerated, this is normal. We can assure you that the serum is still safe to use. Expiration is approximately 3 months without refrigeration and 5 months with refrigeration from purchase date, opened or unopened. Refrigeration is recommended, as mentioned on the box, to extend the shelf life of the serum and slow down the process of oxidation. When oxidized the serum turns red/brown in color and at that point is no longer good to use),

For me I take 3-4 months to use up a 30ml serum applying once a day.

Oh, thanks so much for this info! I've had mine for 6 months now (the larger bottle) :/

Also hard to know when the store got their supply and how they store it.

    • What vitamin c product do you recommend? I have some darks spots I want to fade

The gold standard of vitamin C serums is the Skinceuticals CE + ferulic. It's quite expensive though. Paula's Choice Vitamin C Booster serum is also very good. Many say it's a cheap dupe for the Skinceuticals one. Paula's Choice also have 15 or 20% sales fairly regularly too. Many people also love the Timeless one here. I prefer the Skinceuticals or, if I don't have the $$ to splurge, I go the Paula's Choice.

Are you new to Vit C? Is your skin sensitive? The thing about pure Vit C is that they tend to be irritating. There are Vit C derivatives that are less irritating but still have brightening properties e.g. The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside 12% or Swisse Beauty Vitamin C 10% Brightening Booster Serum which has 10% combined Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate and Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate.

I have yet to find my holy grail pure ascorbic acid water-based serum but I am currently using Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5% Advanced Serum, storing in the fridge, which has been ok but is still a bit yellow. I didn't like the texture of silicone-based ones which are more stable but less pleasant texture. At one stage I resorted to DIY every two weeks (pure Vit C powder is cheap, and this way it's always fresh).

      • I had great results with Medik8 C -Tetra. I've just moved up to a stronger product, Medik8 Pure C15. I haven't used it long enough to see results but it feels a little more oily.

    • You can always decant from the 120 ml into some small amber essential oil bottles off Amazon. Make sure the lids are on tightly, wrap bottles in foil and store at the back of the fridge, in a box, away from the light. I find this helps with keeping the bulk of the product from oxidising each time you expose the large bottle to air every time you open it to apply.
