$960 + 14100 Telstra plus points at Telstra Plus Rewards Store, and you'll earn 9,600 Telstra Plus points.

    • Oooh, are you offering me your points? Lol.

I'm catch connect. $150 a year for everything. Do I need to have a plan to sign up for Telstra rewards?

i know 'nothing' about this phone but i just purchased a iphone 15 pro for 1519 [via Officeworks price beat]

if you cant be cheaper then the flag ship Iphone you're never going to win market share

for the record im not apple fan boy the phone was for my wife i got an old Samsung which i am considering up grading [ill prob wait for the black friday sales this year] but this seems a tad expensive for what is a minor player in a incredbly conpetitive market

    • 4th largest in the US is minor? for sure it's less than samsung and apple but considering how there's only 3 pixels in their line up, it's not bad.

      • +1

        yeah because 2.5% is big

not even in the top 5 world wide - not even close

im not saying it is a bad phone but you're against proper established players - if you want to win market share you gotta offer value compared to its competiors

i guess google isn't too concerned since they pay apple billions to make google the default search option on iphones. the newer pixels use google's own chip so maybe they dont produce enough of the chips to make enough phones. fwiw the cameras on the 8 pro shit all over the top iphones and samsungs. they are only bested by huawei's top range of camera phones

          • +1

@belongsinforums: can almost garnetee if you put the phones side by side took a photo you couldnt tell the difference most humans cant after 3.2 mega pixals after like 30 you almost certainly cant tell.

im not a 'big phones' guy though so you might be right, that Google have their own chip so they might just hae a better product long term. just remember when Samsung was trying to take Market share of apple which DOMINATED the market they were 'cheap' as f—k - it is actually the reason i jumped ship

Samsung now is a rip they are essential price competitive with Apple Iphones but dont hold anywhere near the value

            • @Trying2SaveABuck: i have the latest iphone and the 8 pro. theres a huge difference

              • -1

@belongsinforums: i dont have either but i can hardly tell the difference between my old Samsung s7 and my current s21 - im assuming the camera in my s21 is better but is the difference massive no not really

ill sus the pixal pro 8 when i hit up JB next time see if there is a big difference

                • @Trying2SaveABuck: Congrats to you then. Not being able to see a difference is having you money.

To you photography may not be important but to some users it is.

        • Google is 4.95% in Australia though.

    • If only the Pro max was for that price, i might consider switching for a change. Just to see what the hype is all about. I already have an ipad so have a basic idea.

    • the fan boys down voting me make me laugh you gotta be a proper loser to be upset at thing i have written must be that junk phone you got lmao

    • your knowledge of phone is poor with all your arguements. i.e. black friday is normally not the day for best prices for mobile phones in general.

      • please tell me when is a good time, bar the random Jb Hifi and HN deal via optus/Telstra

Optus deal at launch was the best for me. Optus had that outage soon after and when I expressed my intention to leave, they offered me 50% off on my plan payment to stay.

    • Awesome deal for you!

I will usually pay $150 a year for my calls/data then buy the phone outright.

Currently using a poco x3 nfc. My backlight is starting to shine through and when I use volte connection the internet is crazy slow.

This phone is available to buy at Telstra for 999.

    • Only for Telstra customers on a plan from my understanding? And you have to subsidise it with points.

Still, I can totally see this isn't the best deal so I'm just going to hang out til there's some better sales for it. I want the 256gb minimum, but if the jump to 512gb isn't too much I will do that. I'd prefer not to pay for storage from Google.

      • Not if you go to a store. It's 999 for 128 gig, 1099 for 256 gig and 1299 for 512 gig.

        • And if you can somehow purchase a pixel 1 , it gets unlimited cloud storage on OG quality or just get a pixel 5 or older and you get free storage on high quality upload. You can transfer photos to old pixel and can upload from there to get free google storage.

        • Can't see that on the store

  • +2

The starting price of this phone (128GB) is $1699 where as it was $1599 for the 51GB Pixel 7 Pro. That's a massive increase, and most deals on this phone still aren't enough to convince me to get one.

  • What's the use case for this one over a Pixel 8 or 8A?

What are people doing with the 'pro-ness' of this that the other phones can't?

    • Bigger screen, better camera, more RAM, (unlike the 8 and the 8A one is uglier) comes in blue

    • Idk man I'd still be on my Samsung S6 if that phone and the ones I've had since didn't fail. Are people doing more than just calls, messages, checking emails, quick google searches, socials, and music?

      • If you have friends and family you use your phone to take photos. That is enough to warrant an upgrade every few years.
