$5 Cashback When You Spend $25 in One Transaction at Participating Local Businesses (Claim Up to 5 Times) @ CommBank Yello

170

Looks like a budget version of Amex Shop Small.

Get $5 cashback when you spend $25 or more in one transaction. You can claim this offer up to 5 times.

Use our map to find participating businesses in your area
Pay with your eligible CommBank debit Mastercard or credit Mastercard and select credit
Get cashback into your account, typically within 14 business days
These offers are available to select customers only. They expire 28 Jun 2024 at midnight (Syd/Melb time).

The map is based on your home address. No idea if the system will give cashback on participating retailers outside your home area.

The instruction to "select credit" potentially indicates that Least Cost Routing / Merchant Choice Routing could be an issue. Therefore, it may be safer to use a mobile wallet rather than tapping your physical card in order to force the payment through the Mastercard network (rather than risk it routing through eftpos).

You're unable to claim if you use a payment platform such as Afterpay, Zip Pay or PayPal.

To check eligible cards, go to CommBank Yello offer settings then Offer notifications & support.

Offer eligible for in-store payments only. You can claim an offer multiple times at the same store. The offer is valid at participating businesses displayed on the Local offers map. The location of the participating shops in your area may not be exact, and can change at any time without notice. We rely on information provided by Google and businesses and there may be inconsistencies in the information over which we have no control. And pay $10 for avo toast which at would cost a $1.. !

      • You're not paying for the avo toast, you're paying for the prime rent and penalty rates

        • Well that's a part of it as well .

  • Pretty good, 20% discount.

  • How were you targeted?

i mean i get targeted with yello all the time… targeted for spam that is since all i see when i look in there are "offers" (really just advertising).

Didn’t get this one - interesting to see a multiple use promo, I think this may be their first?

OP - which state and Yello tier are you on?

    • ? since when is there more than 1 yello tier?

      • +2

There are three CommBank Yello tiers:

        • Everyday
        • Everyday Plus
        • Homeowner

I am not sure how long the three tiers have been around for, though.

Looks like Yello launched in its first guise on 17 May 2022:-

Initially available to Homeowner and Homeowner Plus customers … The recognition program will be progressively rolled out to our customers later this year.

Ironically at that time they stated:-

With CommBank Yello there are no tiers, no statuses and no need to spend more.

The program was expanded on 29 November 2023 to more than 8 million customers. This media release noted the Everyday, Everyday Plus and Homeowner tiers (a.k.a. "benefit sets").

      • There are 3. Everyday, Everyday Plus & Homeowner. Eligibility & Benefits here

  • I got this and I only got like six participating stores around Darlinghurst and Kings Cross, where I rarely go.

  • The only place anywhere near me is a newsagent.
Not sure I’ve been in one of those for years. Wonder if the discount covers lotto tickets?

Should be fine. It should be treated as a regular sale and they shouldn't have any visibility of what was purchased.

    • Tested and the app shows that I've qualified for $5 cashback off the purchase.

  • Once again I didn't get this offer. I don't know why I check anymore, as I have never got a Yello offer posted on OzB.

I do get $4 a month put in my personal account. I'm interested yo see of anyone else gets $4 a month.
