Perfect timing and CL for the AMD Ryzen CPUs.

Perfect timing for my next build too!

    • Noice!!!!

    • What are you putting together?

      • +4

I was considering swapping out my 5600X for a 5700X3D, but I've decided to switch to AM5 with a 7800X3D while the prices are good.

    • Are you hunting for a CPU cooler?
I'm after one that doesn't break the bank. If you find a good deal, could you let me know please?

      @ransworld

peerless Assassin is still king of the air coolers being one of, if not the best performing while also one of the cheapest.

        • Yes, this is what I would recommend, and almost certainly what I’ll be buying.

        • Yep, I think I saw it in centre com for $50.

Amazon has it for cheap too.
But I want an AIO 360 with coolers.

  • So tempted but I'm going to upgrade next gen amd CPU in a few months and guessing faster ram will be required for 9800x amd CPU.

    • +1

Will have to wait and see how the architecture pans out. In saying that, the processor that you want will not be known until a good few months post release, once people conduct all their tests and all drivers/bios have been updated. If you already have something that works fine, yes, HODL, but otherwise, you can buy now.

I just received my 7800X3D today, so very thrilled. Will put it in the mobo and try to post and see what happens!

      • I'm Running a 5800x CPU with gpu 6800xt. It's fine until next gen but so tempting to just buy the 7800x3d new mobo and ram.

        • +1

          I'm tempted too but if a Zen5 R5 8600 6 core non 3D gets close to a 7800x3d its going to be a crazy good buy :)

      • just got mine yesterday as well. i was using the 5600x with my 4080, kinda really crippled the gpu.
I was getting 300FPS during fights in OW2 with 130 1% low and sometime even dip into 200s, but now it is solid 600fps with 350 1% low, it is a beast of cpu for gaming.

too bad i paid 100$ more the ram kit. exact same model….oh well….

    • +1

Zen5 9000 series has a new improved memory controller so it will probably change the sweet spot memory standard. :) my guess is 7000MT's

      • +1

Prices are still going to remain artificially high, IMO. They'll keep the 7800x3D where it is, and the new '9800x3D' will be a fair bit more money. It will be a good few months before they drop prices on the 7800x3D.
Yes, memory speeds may change, but RAM prices are good when you get deals like this.

        • +1

R5 8600 6 core will not cost as much as a 7800x3D but its may perform as good if not better in games.

Zen4 was essentially Zen3 on DDR5, a node shrink and overclocked using more power.

Zen5 is a new architectural design along with another node shrink. IPC gains are supposed to be between 10 and 30%

June 5 computex announcement is not far away and a few months until release will go by fast.

  • +1

I'm waiting for Zen5 Ryzen 9000 series to come out. :) they have improved the memory controller in this new CPU ARCH we may get DDR5 7000MT/s as the sweet spot for Zen5 and prices of DDR5 6000 CL30 will drop in price.

Lots of bequiet coolers will fit AM5 as they use the AMD stock backplate that can no longer be removed :) wait for one of those to go on sale.

  • OP,

will it make sense to update my same RAM but 5200mhz ddr5 to this?

    Using ryzen 9 7900x.

    • On paper, well, this will do better. Have you tried overclocking the ram that you have?

  • +3

64gb of corsair vengeance 6400/32 white on amazon.com.au is 243 atm. steal price

    • Oh wow, do you have a link?
I'll add it to the OP.

2 pieces left. i got one 2 days ago at 290 before getting another after seeing price decrease.

        • nice!

        • You know what to do right, @theadeptus?

Make a new order at $243 and refund the old one at $290 😅
          This is the ozbargain way.

          • @lordra: this is exactly what i did. i even contacted support on chat to see if they could help refund the difference. nope, bugger wasn't willing to help so i said fine ill put in a new order and return the other one.

        • Gone

    • Do you have any good deals on CPU coolers? I'm after a nice 360 aio rgb.

  • Looks like it’s Hynix die kit as well so should overclock/tighten up timings well.

It’s gotten so cheap I paid $400 for 32GB of 6200MHz CL36 ram over a year ago and that was on sale lol…

    • Wow, yea, now is a good time to buy, especially when it flash drops like this.

      • Yea man even that 64GB 6400/CL32 kit going for $243 on Amazon right now I upgraded to the same kit last year off eBay with 22% code and I still paid ~$320 lol…

Crazy good prices for memory right now.

  • I currently have 32GB Corsair CMK32GX4M2B3200C16 DDR4 320OMHZ C16 on a Gigabyte B550I mobo. Would this be compatible and an upgrade from what I am currently running? Seems like I'm getting a few BSOD lately so I am suspecting it could be the ram. Cheers

    • You'll need to find DDR4 ram to suit your am4 Motherboard, this deal is DDR5, so its targeted for mainly AM5

      • Ah that's a shame. Any recommendations for a good DDR4 ram and how do I know if it'll be better than what I've already got?

        • G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32GB (2X 16GB) CL16 DDR4 3600MHz Memory $162.60 made for AMD :) its faster ram and should be more stable.. also updating your motherboard bios will help make your PC more stable. Then just enable XMP (set and forget)

          https://www.amazon.com.au/G-Skill-Trident-32GB-3600MHz-Memor…

          • @vid_ghost: Thanks I'll have a look at my build tonight and see if I can fit it in my case as it's already pretty tight currently. Cheers

            • +1

@cray: Also look at downloading the lastest AMD Chipset drivers :) its also good for security reasons. Works in tandum with bios update

The Auto detect drivers on AMDs website works well.

  • How does this compare against the other deal

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/845053

Is it the lack of rgb for extra fps?

    • +2

thats CL40 this one is CL30, way better.

      • Thanks.

        Would this make a difference for a Ryzen 7600 + 7800XT?

        • +1

It would be a up to a couple of % difference generally speaking, not enough to worry if you already ordered the other kit but if not get this instead

    • +1

That ram is very slow, CL40.
      This is perfect at CL30.
Clears deal is a bit cheaper $146, but no RGB.

  • Looking to upgrade to Ryzen 5 7500F / 7600.

Would this RAM run well with either?

    • It would run fine for both. 6000 / CL30 is the recommended sweet spot for AM5

    • Yep, this is the perfect ram for AM5.

      • I am using CL36 at the moment. Will changing to CL30 give a noticeable boost in performance?
        Using 7900 cpu and 7900xtx

        • +1

6000 CL30 vs 6000 CL36.. you will get some extra points in a benchmark but never see any real world differnce..
Buying a better monitor or graphics card would do more for your eye candy

        • What are the full specs of your current ram?

Assuming same speeds of 6k, then no, don't waste your money.

          • @lordra: Im using G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32 GB (2x16 GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL36 AMD EXPO [GSKILL-TRIDENT-Z5- 2X16GB-6000M-INTELXMP]

6000MHz but currently using the default speed 4800MHz , havent had a chance to turn the overclock profile on

            • +1

              @OzFrugie: @OzFrugie
Ah, rightoh. In that case, what Vid_ghost said. Real world, it'll literally make no difference.

Good video here if you like to learn a bit more.
              https://youtu.be/EWR6-nTpTaU?si=lf8ABO4Yf_J5AHOL

              Save your money.

              • @lordra: Thanks!
Btw does higher speed impact performance more than timing?
Should I enable EXPO (or XMP?) to take my ram speed from 4800 to 6000?

                • +1

@OzFrugie: Yes! Higher speed does impact performance more than timing.
YES! Please enable it and get it to that sweet spot of 6k.

Found this to be the cheapest. drops the price by 3 bucks…

    • You're a good man.

How on earth did you manage this? I tried to find a listing but there was no arrange by price.
